Did you visit Microsoft.com and try updating your VC package? I run Windows 10 and SketchUp 2016 and see no issues.

I think Chris's tools have moved on from those old posts... His ColorBySlope tool colors facets according to their 'angle'. In his Plugins subfolder's ..._data.rb near the end you can see how the faces are processed and their angle is calculated as 'segment' [as an integer]. The array of materials [matarray] is inspected and the material number corresponding to the 'segment' is assigned to the facet... If you setup 90 colors then for each degree of slope you get a correspondingly colored material on the face... With just 9 colors you get a 10 degree range of slope between flat and vertical. So for example - set 'low' to green [0,255,0] and high to 'red' [255,0,0] Then the steeper the slope the redder it gets ? The flatter the slope the greener it gets ?? Not all colors will get used - r.g. if the majority are quite flat it's predominantly greens as there are no steep red parts ! That script is pretty dated - newer versions of SketchUp allow you to get the volume of a selected solid group/component directly in Entity Info. This manual example is really what you are seeking to be automated ? [image: vGiz_Capture.PNG]

If you Select a single Arc then the 'Entity Info' report is its 'true length'. If you Explode an Arc into separate Edges, or if you have a welded 'Curve', then 'Entity Info' reports the total length of all of the individual 'Segments'. So an Arc and an Exploded Arc will report slightly different lengths - the exploded version is always going to be somewhat shorter because each segment will 'cut a corner', whereas a true-arc has a summation of a 'infinity' of 'tiny-tiny' edges [2Pir*included_angle/360] - the effect of Pi is to give a result that can be refined more and more, but never quite gets to an unchanging value, as it can always be improved upon - of course in practice these tiny fractions of an inch are unimportant and so we 'round-up'... Depending on the accuracy of what you want to measure/buy/cut etc the 'segment summation' will probably do, because only a few mm are involved in quite large objects between true arc-lengths and summed segment-lengths...

I think using layer is a buggy with Vray because when i deleted all the layer I have, I can now render my model. Layer has another issue with scenes and Vray. If i turned off a layer on another scene then on the product image the supposed to be turned on layer disappear. I hope chaos group now working on this bugs, and I think what causes much delayed on their product update is because theyre waiting for another sketchup product which fixes especially in counting polygon.

First thing I would check is textures. Make sure you don't have any funky image files from any warehouse objects for example. I've sometimes run into images that are cmyk jpeg files instead of RGB for example. Have you tried doing a render with global material override. That way you can check if any of the materials are causing problems. (You can override some materials and have those render, that way you can check specific materials.) There's any other number of problems that can crop up. Another trouble-shooting option is to load default options settings to make sure something in your options isn't messed up. If you are using DR, there are all kinds of instability there that could be an issue. Any more specifics you can share on your settings? One last thing: do you have more than one window of SU open when you are rendering? That can cause all kinds of issues too. I never have two windows of SU open with vray running.

This reminds me of a connector I put together for a project a few years back for ridge and valley timbers over a log post. Didn't have the luxury of a plasma cutter though, so it was hand fabricated. It was pretty much mostly buried anyway but it made for an interesting structure. These kinds of details are fun to design. [image: c0wt_Picture2.png]

You probably ought to take a look at Nick Sonder's videos. You can make section cuts already, add faces to the section cuts if you wish and you can apply materials. You don't need any other plugins for that. Symbols and other text are best done in LayOut, not SketchUp.

HI, yes, as TIg said, it is a known bug. Another simple workaround is to open the exported file, type units and set them to the units you used on the original sketchup file.

Not in SU 8. If you have SU 7 however, it always imports what is on screen in GE so if you have a "historic" imagery loaded, you can import that. It's B&W though so you will need to export the colour image from GE and reload the B&W one with it in SU.

If you want to edit the vray material in Material Studio (assuming the material has .vismat as extension) you 'Right-click' on Scene Material and select 'add material -> add vraymtl' it will then pop up a browser box where you search for your .vismat material. If you want to open it in VraySU you open the material editor and once again right click on Scene Material and select 'add material -> add vraymtl'. Edit: Sorry...it should be right click and import new material' Hope that helps, Rob
