I'm having trouble upon opening Sketchup Layout 2016, it always ended with runtime error and bugsplat after. I just have to screenshot the windows error cause it will disappear after bugsplat window appear. I don't know if its compatibility issue with windows 10 or outdated program.

Kindly give me advise and solution please. Thank You

parametric objects BIM integrated to Archicad, Revit or Tekla thats all.

my Sketchup 2015-2016 wishlist is to integrate sketchup with BIM with parametric object so when imported to Archicad or Revit export will be no problem.

Thanks TIG for your response, but is there a way I can do this on a large scale land or similar to Chris Fullmer plugin that is has color value per slope. I saw your post in Chris Fullmer Color by Slope where should replace the original ruby script in notepad by the one you generate however, I don't know which file should I replace with the one you post or if i should remove all the scripting text and replace it.

I was in a bit rush today and i have no idea if I can do this task in instant using sketchup but I was looking for a slope analysis plugin for sketchup, I found 2 the color by slope and Color by Z of Chis Fullmer. However, I cant find its use in my field or even its overall plugin purpose since I can't input the percentage of slope or angle for every assign RGB i enter. Hope anyone can answer my question.

I have a geolocated model and the axis are based on cardinal direction my building is somewhat facing northwest which means my axis is still in X,Y,Z coordinates while my building tilt an angle from northwest. I can't change this coordinates axis because these are the base for the true north in geolocating the model or else my north will follow the axis or change manually the north by manually setting it up. Is there any plugins that I can set up the elevation tag in sketchup so when I import the views in Layout or set the front view, the building still faces in front not the northest view based on North and x,y,z axis??

I'm just having messed up all my week modelling cut and fill from scratch calculating the volume balancing cut and fill volume. My mentor want to have a 50/50 cut and fill on terrain so there will be no less or excess on disturbed soil. I just want to know if there is any site grader calculator plugin where I can positioned my building enter the amount value of cut and fill and the program will automatically compute how deep or how high the building will be on the surface terrain. I already know the Chuck Vali Site grader but what I was looking is terrain grader with accurate data like volume of cut and volume of fill and can be exported to excel. If theres none, can I or we request someone to make a plugins for that matters, cause this will be a big help not just in field of civil but also early simulation of projects for architects. Thanks

I'm quite disappointed too when i found out that what we've got in 2013 is just new icons for sketchup aside from extension warehouse nothing has changed in sketchup interface, though most of the changes were found on Layout. But i was expecting that there will be just little changes in skp 2013 because Trimble had acquired sketchup for just a year but not just changes in icon looks and additional sketchup people component was i was expecting.. I expected now that i can create a dynamic geometry where i can add geometry in an basic object like box, sphere, etc..

I'd followed all the instruction in importing 3ds file to skp in google instruction, but when I imported the file all the textures have disappeared even though all jpg/ textures was included in the same folder as the file. did i missed any. the files were originally from 3ds Max format and converted to 3ds file, i preserved all texture coordinates before exporting it to 3d file.

I agree with you guys, even though i tried some other rendering engine, either biased or unbiased I always coming back with Vray result and speed, but still i just want to continue exploring unbiased rendering software because of its future potential. I have read before that Vray is the present and (Maxwell) is the future of rendering, but the slow of the image production is bothering me to use it since it takes too long for it to finish a one scene.

I was playing around lately with other rendering engine as my alternate for my Vray render capacity, and I came up to a rendering software showcasing their biggest advantage among other traditional rendering software, the unbiased rendering system. Some said Vray is manipulative and not create a real world light behavior similar to other traditional rendering engine such as mantal ray. but some said I have to activate something in Vray UI to mock a real world lights. What should I do to make a Vray result look realistic and unbiased??

I believe what Andybot was suggesting was right.. exploding all object would make the model more messed up.. for me finding the culprit is the more better way to solve it, so before i insert any model from 3d warehouse, i edit it first and try if it can render itself. remove layers, purge.

I think using layer is a buggy with Vray because when i deleted all the layer I have, I can now render my model. Layer has another issue with scenes and Vray. If i turned off a layer on another scene then on the product image the supposed to be turned on layer disappear. I hope chaos group now working on this bugs, and I think what causes much delayed on their product update is because theyre waiting for another sketchup product which fixes especially in counting polygon.

why does Vray for Sketchup has a lot of bugs?? does this problem has any solution or being solved by team chaosgroup?? here a list of problem i always experienced:

1. Failed to create dump file error 183 then sketchup will stop working and close

2. Verify if you have enough space on TEMP.. even though I always do disk cleanup and have a lot of computer memory..

3. rendering suddenly stop and produce black box in rendered image. this time the error no. 2 above will appear.

4. cannot work on layers, components, scene etc.. I tried to combined use of layers and scene and when I turned off a layer the layer that should be on disappear on product images.

5. causing sketchup to stop when have displacement materials.

6. if you have a very very big sketchup file at least 60 MB above vray couldn't work on it, when you click render then Vray status bar will say Please wait Vray is currently processing your request. you'll wait for 30 minutes then no Vray frame buffer will appear. then you can explore the model again.

7. Vray box will appear and would say failed to process your request

8. Materials suddenly altered or being replaced with another materials in your model.

9. when you're doing Material setup, or applying any reflection or bump, the window toolbar doubled up e.g. you have double diffuse, option, maps without you doing anything on it.

10. Sketchup bug splat though its rare for me to experience it unlike what i mentioned on error 1.

I do maintain my sketchup model clean, I never applied layer again on my model, I keep my skp file very small for me maximum is 50 MB but still experienced those said bugs. sometimes applying scenes also make a lot of bugs for me. components make can reduce your file size but it can cause a lot of error when preparing your model for rendering.

What you guys thought?? do you experienced all of it, when you're out of time and already prepared model for rendering then vray didn't cope up with you?? does this problem also exist on other chaos group Vray products. Please help us i'm tired of repeating materials set up again and again.. if you have more error that i didn't mentioned you can share it here.

I was a sole user of Vray since I seriously started learning about rendering, but lately I freqeuntly encounter error in rendering in Vray such as "you dont have enough space in temp", error rendering, materials disappear and became just color, applied bump gone, sketchup crash(bugsplat), etc. I don't know if its right to move from another rendering or find some solution in this bugs, because i'm quite sure other rendering engine have also bugs that i haven't met neither. I'm looking forward in learning more on vray and i'm trying to learn Kerythea as my alternative to vray.

I already purge it and below are the details:

Here in our country, the most widely used 3d platform by small architecture firm is Sketchup because of its handy UI, easy to learn and the plus factor is its cost. I like the idea of Sketchup getting into a BIM industry because it needs to. the market of competition is now on the BIM especially all architectural firm. You guys were right that BIM only focus on a Building and its lifespan, but not on exterior such as landscape, terrain etc. It might be a plus factor if Sketchup become a BIM which also integrates the exterior sorroundings and that will become very useful especially in Landscape Architectural firm.
