This is a quite ancient plugin - but it should still work... I assume you installed the latest version [RBZ] of this from the SketchUcation PluginStore. http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=SketchyFFD If not, then please do so now, and restart SketchUp... It's use is relatively simple - you select the desired group to be free-formed, the right-click > context-menu... Editing the guide [control] point group should modify the associated form... The usage-guidance is here... http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=36127#p36127

Kellen, you can try rotating the spoon 90 degrees so it's laying on its edge, but shallow curves are always hard to print on an FFF (filament) printer. You could also try using Meshmixer (it's free!) to generate the supports and see if that helps.

You could "stitch" this together rather quickly. Or you could add verticals at the 3 corners then skin each of the three sides with Curviloft. Group all and reverse the faces so that all outsides are the front or white material. The way this was created, you could also use Extrusion tools- extrude edges by vector from one shell shape to the other (which seems to be a copy). Similarly you could have used Joint Push Pull--Vector Push Pull on one shape to extrude it up and make the second shell as well. One way to stitch it is just with vertical lines point to point since the shapes are identical.

Yes, thank you so much. That is exactly what I wanted. I was trying to make it harder than it is. I will get the extension for .skp --> .stl.

Check out Fredo's tools like Joint Push Pull of 'extrusions' or CurviLoft making a surface from different faces etc - they are available form the SCF PluginStore [note that you also need to install his Lib] Restart SketchUp after the installation of the RBZ archives... http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?listtype=2%26amp;author=1053%26amp;category=0

@kellenraidfractal said: I have an organic shape that I would like to latticeify (I don't know the correct term), you know, make parts of it in a lattice to save time and material on 3D printing. What would be a good plugin for this if there is one? Possibly http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=latticeMaker or http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=Latticeizer by TIG.

      1. I saw a few months past a video where you would input your model and the plugin would find the mistakes so printing would go smoother; what is the name of this software? Does anyone have any suggestions? %(#FF4000)[How to Fix and Repair Your 3D Files Using Meshlab and Netfabb NETFABB: Measure, Check and Repair] http://www.shapeways.com/tutorials/how_to_use_meshlab_and_netfabb 2. How do I convert my model from .skp to .stl? I saw a plugin that would do that, but again, it mean little at the time and now it is critical...I think. there a sketchup plug-in that inport and export STL in the sketchucation download store is available for free ( mono color file converter ) STL files are the standard file type for 3D printing How to Prep an STL File for Printing. engineering| [image: 3DP1.png] SOlid inspector is finding problems that I cant see http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=388%26amp;t=60347 with a slicer you can deforming layer by layer expanding the loop line is ok if you don't exceeded the 1/2 the nozzle width in displacement per layer "Usually the head moves in layers, moving in two dimensions to deposit one, small nozzle to form a thin and tacky bead of plastic that will adhere to the material at 45 or to not exceeded 45 degree to last layers but if you bend it or twist it may break a part the layers or change shape of object surface you will need to rebuild the model with a different path length. Learn about supporting by this video Adding custom 3dprinting supports in Meshmixer. mold3d.com| if you can cad it to one layer at a time in a single unbroken and uncross path loop that stay at rest with gravity that is also adheres 100 % to previous layer you can make a close surface wall by moving though the display section plans thus a check test for close loops can be completed

In PC versions older than v2014 there are often issues with security permissions to the Plugins too... See this on how to set it up properly for v8 http://sketchucation.com/resources/tutorials/36-intermediate/811-setting-security-permissions-in-sketchup In v2014 the folder should automatically be made by SketchUp for each User, with FULL permissions... The Plugins > SketchUcation fool at the end of the list will open the Plugins folder for you so you can actually see what is installed - although you should never need to manually mess with its contents if you use the AutoInstall features available to you...
