It is achievable in VfSU however its not achieved as easily with vray for max. In max you just select the physical cam and go to its properties and hit guess shift. In VfSU you need to edit the lens shift values till the image has the vertical lines completely upright just as the human eye perceives physical geometry.

Thanks Richard, I will see if the shadow filter helps. I generally use photoshops levels and curves for adjusting tone. Then I'll often use an Alien Skin plugin called Exposure 2 (http://www.alienskin.com/exposure/) to adjust all my exposure and saturation settings. It's a great plugin if you ever get a chance to check it out. I'm also wondering if I should adjust my Vray settings so that I can switch on the SRGB toggle, as I've heard this will be more true to a monitors color range. Foxar, My card is a NVidia 9500GS. I'll have to look into adjusting it through their software. My monitor is an LG Flatron 22" with a 10000:1 fine contrast ratio. Everything else appears normal when I browse or look at other people's work on my monitor. Is there a way to self calibrate?

Good job on the wrenches and the billboard. Good photo of your son. Yeah, I'd look twice at that billboard. Turned out great! Glad the client liked it as well. Smart client.

Yes...true about the name. My biz journey is getting there slowly. I just bought VRay and now need the time and some small projects to learn the program. I currently run a mill work shop for a custom trade show graphics and exhibit company. Eventually I'd like to get to the point where I'm doing prototyping and fabricating for product design and custom furniture. I will be buying Modo next month and continue adding to my programs. Any advise you can offer would be appreciated. Thanks Adam. Jeff

Adam, these last two are winners. Might want to add a backdrop of sorts on the first one. Nice pool! Don't see many around these parts.

That looks great. There a bunch of .vob waterfalls that came with Vue on the extra content CD as well. I didn't realize that up until now. It's amazing how I seem to find something new everytime I play with Vue.

Thanks Pete. The soft shadow button will still result in hard shadows for me. Perhaps it's the ambient light/sun light slider that I need to adjust. For the grass, I'm looking for something that I can use for quick residential projects. A short mowed lawn that doesn't appear flat, without taxing render times too much. Do you think creating an ecosystem material would be my best bet? As it will render billboards in the distance, instead of trying to displace an entire lawn.

Adam The reason i was able to do it quick is because I only animated four frames (all that was needed) and I lowered the render quality to final and reduced the output size. I had a 64 bit installation last year but changed back to 32 bit due to too many issues of campatability, Since then many apps have begun supporting 64 bit, I plan to upgrade to a new I7 dual quad soon which will be a 64 bit rig. So in answering you I would say yes 32 bit rendering will be slightly slower, however I use 5 rigs on a render cow configuration which makes the difference un-noticable. The .skp importer works okay (not great) I still prefer using .3ds export, but that's more because I am stuck in a tested workflow. Please ask me anything, I will do my best to help.

Now it just looks like the real thing, you could of just taken a photograph. Somehow I liked the spiffy version. Ooh but that pencil's SHARP (like your estimates?). Great work!

@kabukidoo said: New to sketchup, have managed to locate and download both the line on surface plug in and the joint push plugin. Trying to make a sloped curved wall much like above. Every time I go to delete excess my interior wall disappears below the "cut" Help? Very helpful video though. I'm amazed I've gotten so far so quick. Can you attach the model just before you do that? Remember that in removing excess you have to leave any edges that are "used" by the faces you wish to keep. It's easy at first to mistakenly remove too many edges (at least I had that problem sometimes). One way to remove a face or smooth curved surface: DOUBLE CLICK on the face to select the face plus all bounding edges. GROUP. Then DELETE. That should leave edges that adjacent faces need. HEY EARTHMOVER! I see you visited recently but not posted for a while. How are you? Miss your inspiration!
