A simple pool design rendered in Vue6. Any advice to get better looking pool water?

I think it looks fantastic, I would only change one thing and that is your water scale, it seems too large.
        Otherwise it's a great rendering.

A question about your vegetation, is it all Vue or are there some 2d billboard trees there too?

Looks fantastic! There's (apart from the water) two things bothering me: the camera setup (looks unnatural), and the five trees right behind the back wall (they're too identical). Apart from that, this image is really compelling.

            Thanks guys!

Solo, the vegetation is all billboard, except for a Vue tree behind the camera for shadow effect and a few off in the distance. I also replaced the Vue sky (imagine that) with a high res Dosch background and most of the distant trees are from within the image.
Any advice for pool water settings? All of the presets seem geared more toward large scale bodies of water. I tried an assortment of different bumps and scaling, but nothing seemed natural. I guess maybe I'll have to experiment with some custom gradient maps.

Stinki, Thanks for the advice. I'll see if I can take the clone stamp tool to the trees a little more.

Looks awsome, Adam - all that is missing are some puddles of water around the pool. Also, the surrounding paving looks reflective; wouldn't you want a rough, slip-resistant material around the pool for safety?

              My avatar is an anachronism.

Thanks Daniel. The stone is a honed travertine paver. It's non-slip, but has a slight sheen to it. See here - http://www.woodburycement.com/images/andes/andes%2019.JPG

It's the same texture as I posted here - http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=13561

thats very cool..like that alot.... the 'only' thing that kills it for me though are those 5 slender 2d bushes/trees straight back.... other than that, looks awesome...vue is so great wtih this natural stuff..

                      Very nice render,

I gave Vue a try too but I think the learning curve is very steep. I'm focussing on Fryrender and Indigo. Were can I find those 2d tree billboards you are talking about. Please share.

I did some water tweaking with some different setting and new bump map. I think I finally have a decent pool water material for Vue. (Attached) What do ya think?

I just realized Vue could export images in Piranesi format. I thought I'd have some fun.
