Thanks Guys. Jeff, it's Garrett Hacks's bench. He built a new one after 30 years with the previous one. It certainly is very sturdy. There's a video of him talking about and using the bench on the FWW site. I finally got a copy of the magazine yesterday. I must say I'm pleased with how the images look. They don't look blatantly like SketchUp drawings and fit very well with the hand=drawn illustrations. It's different seeing them in print in the magazine than on the screen.

mics_54, the Router Boss will just tell the planes stories about how I only collect tools any more. I don't ever actually use them because I'm too busy with other things. Dear Bob, thank you for that link. More shiny stuff to covet. Dave

Thanks Peter. I saw that and gave it a try. I made the settings before I went to work. When I opened SketchUp after getting home from work, all the standard toolbars were missing and the ones from the plugins were stacked up one above the other. Weird. Lately when the toolbars do get scrambled, they've behaved well enough as far as letting me put them back.

I remember that chair. I loved the furniture from that era. Nice model!

One little trick you can do is to add a face with a gradient transparency png texture overlaying the original face. to create the shadow area. This is just a quick sketch to show the idea using the texture from above [image: nsi0_arch.jpg] This is the png [image: 7h36_fade3.png]

Hi Eric, I agree with you that the second one does look flatter although it is made from an image of the upholstery in the first shot. I think it would work for a quick look though and when used as part of a more complex model, the savings in file size would probably be welcome. I don't have the model here at work but I made a section view this morning before leaving the house. I'll do an image of the mesh this evening and post it.
