At the presentation, they stated that terrain in america is very much more detailed (golden gate bridge area: up to 6 inches!) but obviously other areas are not so detailed.

I tried with a location I worked on in the past, and the mesh imported is still the same.

also, if you set location and import a mesh (finally in color!) and then open the components dialog you wiil find a category named: nearby buildings, that will import the building on the terrain.

Also, take notice that solid operations are awesome, but work only for pro... and that's bad

Looking forward to see you guys... two days left and then I will be airborne πŸ˜„

Just a question: how easy is it to walk around in Boulder? I read about it, it seems that Boulder is very pedestrian friendly..

Perfect, just enough time for a couple of pints before the big event.

This could end up being called 3d Faceplant 😲

      Or the 3D Facepalm πŸ˜‰

Count me in, I am arriving in Boulder the 30th late in the night.

I arrive at Denver on the 30th at 20.30 (8.30 pm) so if anyone is there maybe we could share a cab or the ride to Boulder.

Let me know, and see you there πŸ˜„

    • RE: [Tutorial > Texturing] Creating an arch material (SU 7+)

Very nice to know. Had I read it before, I would have used it for a project i was on to.

If you rotate 90 degrees the concept, you have baked textures for circular walls and pathways πŸ˜‰

Anyway, speaking of drugs, I'll go make some coffe!!

    • RE: Trans-Atlantic Fan Fund for Basecamp 2010

I post this here because i need to know one thing: how do you get hold of an invite to the BaseCamp? I'd love to go, really, If I knew I was going my life would be really nicer right now so... how do I get an Invitation? I read the basecamp page but got no clue.

If I had an invitation, I know I would have the cash to go (but I should start to think now about a new passport! OMG!), but I don't know how to get one.

If it is difficult, I would be quite happy to help someone of this splendid community to go...

Please, if any of you has some information, let me know!!

I don't understand about the locking, however. Would you explain further?

      Thanks,
      Bantymom

In the Windows Menu, open up Entity Information. Now select a component (or a Group, or a number of lines, really) Entity Information will show you all that is needed to be know about your selection. Underneath the informations, there are a series of check boxes: try clicking on the one that says "locked". Now your selection will become red, because you can no longer edit or modify it.

Clicking on "Locked" again will unlock the objects.

You obtain the same effect, right clicking on the selected elements and choosing "lock".

Locking an element guarantees you will not delete a completed component by mistake. Als it lets you use snap point on the locked elements, if you need them as reference for new elements.

Whether I render or use Sketchy output all depends on the stage of the projects. We find that rendering realistic images too early on in the project get people too caught up in details that are yet not determined nor important.

      I strongly agree.

      @frv said:

I startup SU frequently and startup got very slow with Vray installed. Up to the point I got frustrated with my regular workflow that does not requires rendering all the time.

If you bought it in the last three months, you have bought the new version which is very buggy, as of now. In order for you to not waste your money, give Vray a chance once a new update comes out. I tell you this because I'm in the betatesting program of vray, and since the release numbered 1.48.66 the beta has now gone up to .83. In the meanwhile, a lot of problems have been addressed, and I think hopefully in the near future the upgrade will be released to paying customers too.

Don't get too discouraged: if you have spent money on it you should at least try to make it work once! πŸ˜„

P.s: The fact that you cannot re-sell the license is really a bugger, I admit that!

Since I'm used to archicad i find it tedious to reactivate selection tool, select item, move it and repeat. So when things are still simple, I keep the move tool activated and select objects right clicking on them πŸ˜‰
