Well, I absolutely love these models. The detail is great and you keep your meshes so clean!
I do think I'll put a couple of these beaties in my renders

In Italy the situation is the same. I teach sketchup to my friends every once in a while: when we get to plugins it's always a problem, because they are all in English

I just picked up a new one today. It's not to everyone's taste, but with the AIA coming up and another long haul flight looming, I wanted something that was truly portable and which I could take on a plane without having to virtually empty my carry-on bag of everything other than the laptop itself.
Very interested in this one! Why don't you let us know how it performed on the long run?

and you can run vray via cinema4d...
This I have to check out. Vray runs on C4D on macs?

coming soon though is vray for sketchup OS X which will run natively on macs

This is extremely good news!!
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, but very happy you recovered everything.
You know the worst thing that can happen? When you "cut" data from the pc to an external media... and your pc decides it's time to go to sleep..... unrecoverable data loss!!!!
I am a very recent switcher, and I must say I enjoy my Imac 24 a lot. The only thing that takes me aback is that other than Kerkythea and Artlantis, there are no professional rendering solutions... if you don't want to learn Maya, wichi I do not at the moment.
The keyboard is really nice, and working on a big screen is really a plus.
Bootcamp is very easy to install, just be sure to print the manual prior to using it
Cheers!

For a minute I thought SketchUp had finally evolved into Super-ArchiCAD.(And I left a dumb comment in the Youtube video )
Me too, me too..
Make really sure there are no issues on the videocard performance for each one, and take a look to find video driver hacks (installing new videodrivers on a laptop is always a pain)
Apart from that, look for the pc that has the smallest charger (in size I mean) because when you take it around too much weight is very uncomfortable!
When something like this occurs, I simply do a zoom extents and everything goes back to normal. Isn't this your case?
when you pan, in Leopard, be sure your hand is under the model and not under an empty part of the scene: in that case pan works in realtime

looks cool.
Just remember, wait for version 2 before buying.
this has been soooo true for the ipod touch! 2nd generation is way better. Clearly i got my 1st generation a month beflore the upgrade, bummer
P.S.: that laptop design is very very cool
I tried to register, but I got a very strange password, so I can not log in!!
It would be really much easier to just post process that line of grass in an image editing program. Do a search for The GrassLand brushes for photoshop: great tools to get you going.
That, plus clone tool, gives amazing results!
I think I have a solution for this (at least it is working for me so far)
I have recently got an imac 24 with the ati 2600 xt video card. Had I known the issue I wouldn't have gotten it but I didn't, at the time. So i did a bootcamp, and installe win xp Pro, then proceeded to install sketchup. Soon, I found out the glitches: the front face would never be selected, even if I checked the reverde face fix in preferences. I had a short deadline for a job, so I had to cope with it, befor finding a solution!
Tonight I had a look on the web and luckily for me the italian base came up with a solution:
they say that the Radeon 2600 architecture is very similar to the ATI MOBILITY FireGL V5600. Only problem you have to modify it to make it work on portable components.
So I downloaded the latest fireGL drivers from AMD/ATI site and then I got the mod tool, you can download it here:
http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php
Read carefully the instructions for the download of this tool, because you need some microsoft components in windows XP. It says that these are not necessary for Vista... I have tried this hack only in win Xp pro.
Once you have the two parts start the installation of firegl drivers. The program will decompress the files in a directory like c:/amd (but you can choose the location It will then start the installation, but tell you that he doesn't find any compatible hardware. It's ok, just cancel the installation.
Next, install the mod tool, and start the program. In the window of the program, search for c:/amd (or the folder where you extracted the files) and make him do the mod.
Now, simply restart the installation of the driver, clicking on the setup.exe file of the fireGl drivers. If everything is ok, installation will start, asking you to confirm the installation of non registered drivers. Let him do it's thing, and once you restart the system, the driver is good to go.
Now, when you open Sketchup, you should see that all the problems have gone. and the program runs as i should.
Tomorrow I'll give me a lot of SU love
As usual your mileage may vary, and remember that these hacks are potentially dangerous for the system or the machine. Do a backup of your data and keep the original drivers handy, in the case something goes terribly wrong.
Ciao, from Napoli

and why do image files need to be rectangular?? it would eliminate the need for transparency if images could be irregular shapes, maybe even having holes in them.
I don't understand this.. Can't you just apply an image to a face, and the edit that face?

A more recent Duh I had:
Being able to select only a few edges from a face and offset them instead of the whole face.
I had this one today!!
Dear all,
been playing around with vray for Sketchup since december. Had a hard time on it, especially when I did'nt understand settings and other things. Lately did a job for a friend of mine, who asked me to have the most "perfect" view possible of his project. Took me a week of tweaking model and texture, but I am really happy with this one
Hope you like it!
take a look at what's happening in Italy. You'll think twice about your situation in the UK, I assure you
