Method 1 is similar to how I would've done it, except that I would rather make a vertical row(column) first, because that would make it easier to select (unless it is a very tall building).

Well, these aren't really panels. It's stucco/eifs with joints so the subs don't care if there are 3 sizes or 30 because the joints are located on site. It's not like a cement panel where a form needs to be made and they need to be modular. Regardless, I have no influence on this. The fact is there is very little constancy. What you're describing seems to be the best method without a ruby. Once some simple modeling is done, a ruby is unnecessary true, however it's quite a lot of simple and repetitive modeling, which is what ruby's tend to excel at. If you had the option would you do it your way? Or would you bring in the CAD drawings, run Make Faces on it and then run a Make Bevels script on it and be done? -Brodie

as it turns out the one on the right did work out much better in this instance and after flipping just a few faces it seemed almost perfect. [image: jiTe_Capture1.PNG] [image: 4JfM_Capture2.PNG] the one on the left however had some major issues! go figure. [image: JCWh_Capture3.PNG]

right. and learn Max... There's also Modo, Cinema4D, Maya, etc. Definitely depends on how much animation you're doing whether it's worth putting up with vfsu. Also, note that vfsu is limited with animating objects between scenes (as in you can't) In terms of setting up an animation, you can pre-calculate the light cache and the irradiance map. Here's the link to the tutorial I used. http://vray.us/vray_tutorials/vray_tutorial_irradiance_map2.shtml Andy

MaterialConsolidator is probably the best tool ever to get rid of redundant materials. There are two ways to apply a material, either by using the paint bucket (which changes the UVs) or by selecting the faces and choosing a different material from the entity info. As for my experience this preserves the UVs.

That's certainly the closest to what I'm looking for. What would improve it are 1) control over the amount of jitter (I was able to control it some by editing the .rb file but that's not the best option) and 2) each vertex should be aware of what it's neighbors are doing (so instead of each point having a totally random value it has a random value in relation to the vertices next to it so you can create waves at various frequencies - that would be better for bends in metal coping) -Brodie

If using a Mac to compile jpg to avi/mov and flash I use Avidemux http://avidemux.sourceforge.net/ 100% free and you can resize enhance filters and many more options, this is not bad for the novice to use
