Trying to scale a component but Tape Measure stops me
So I'm trying to use the feature where you can use the tape measure to measure some distance (in my case, it's the thickness of a piece of wood), SU will say the wood is X and then I type in Y" to change the scale of that component so that now X has become Y".
The issue I'm having is that every time I take a measurement in this component, it creates a guideline and then typing in a measurement will only affect the length or position of the guideline. I often have this issue, but taking a measurement from a different area fixes it. Here, though, I can't get the Tape Measure to just measure without creating a guideline.
Ideas?

Region Render not working
The Region Render gets stuck either on or off using Vray NEXT. For example, if I turn it on and render a region, then turn Region Render off again and begin rendering the scene, the region render will turn back on. The only workaround I've found so far it so switch from bucket rendering to progressive.
Has anyone else run into this issue? What's your fix?

Best way to white balance?
v4.00.02
The Auto doesn't seem to really work (at least in the scene I'm working on).
Is the ONLY option to use the color picker? You can't set the white balance based off of a color temperature? You can't select a color from your VFB as the basis of the white balance?
Am I missing anything here?

Vray slowing down SketchUp

I'm jumping back into VfSU after taking a pretty long break. One thing I'm noticing is that my SketchUp model all runs fine until I first open up VfSU. From that point on, the model will start hanging at what seems like random times as well as less random times (sometimes adjusting materials and the like). This also continues if I close all of the VfSU dialog boxes. I have to completely restart SU to return to normal behavior.
Does everyone else experience this as well? Any way to help mitigate this?

At the bottom of the material panel are 5 icons. The second one looks like a folder and the Mouse Over text says "Import .vrmat File". Vismats are now known as .vrmats.

I may have found the answer. I closed my Outliner and that seems to have fixed the save time issue.

Doing a bit more testing, it seems that when I open a file it saves very quickly <5 seconds. Once I open the VfSU GUI the save time jumps to several minutes. Closing the UI doesn't change the save time but if I close and reopen the file the save time goes back to <5 seconds (until I reopen the UI again).

Long save times
Do other people have issues with long save times? I've been testing Vray for SU 3.60.03 with SU 2018. My test scene is 40mb. Generally that size saves pretty quickly for me but this scene which has vray proxies, materials, etc. saves obnoxiously slow. I haven't timed it but it's probably a few minutes or so, sometimes longer. Do others have this issue or know what it relates to?
edit: did a test and timed it saves in just over 4 minutes

Material creation bugs
I'm using v3.60.02 and I seem to be running into some bugs with the material creation. Sometimes I'll click on the checkered tile to open a map but nothing will happen. Other times I'll be able to open it up but when I change the map it won't change the material preview. Usually when that happens I then can't change the preview scene.
Is anyone else running into this sort of thing?

RE: Graphic card
SU is notoriously hard to predict when it comes to graphics card performance. It's not rare for an objectively better card to underperform a much cheaper card. Also, as was hinted at before the CPU (or rather a single core of your CPU) is doing most of the work in terms of geometry. As I recall the GPU is handling things like shadows, textures, and (I believe) styles like extended lines.
My advice, if you're only buying a card with SU in mind, is to get a decent nVidia gaming card. I'm a bit out of date on my video card knowledge so I'm afraid I can't offer any specific advice with regards to the models you mentioned.

Hrm...I changed all of my OpenGL settings to no avail.
For the record I'm on Windows 7 64-bit, SU2014, and have an nVidia Quardo 4000

Should I see Back Edges in Component mode?
When I am in a component with "Hide Rest of Model" turned on showing "Back Edges" doesn't work. I wonder if this is working as intended or if I have some sort of graphics card glitch I'm having. I'm on SU2014. Do others get this same behavior?

I used it previously in SU8 and was quite happy with it. I just assumed the whole point of the extension warehouse was to replace it. Out of curiosity, why are your plugins not available there?

Thanks. I probably need to download the plugin store again. I'd thought the integrated extension warehouse would replace it but there seems to be an awful lot that isn't on there (and the search function seems to be quite bad).

Exactly what I needed Box, thanks! I like the simplicity of Didier's plugin a bit better (no dialogs breaking up my flow). With TIG's suggestion on how to get it to work in 2014 everything is right with the world again. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

TIG,
Would it be possible to get a slight tweak on this? The extrusion works great but I use it pretty often and the dialogs sort of break up the flow a bit for me. I wonder if it would be a big deal to have a version that doesn't ask you about reversing the faces and automatically explodes the resulting geometry.
