Hi John and welcome. As you do woodwork, I registered you in our Woodworking forum so that you can access it when logged in. Also, a "beginner's tip" (as you come from Autocad) if you allow me: don't expect layers in SU to separate your geometry; they merely control visibility and the geometry on different layers is still interactive with each other. Use groups or components to separate geometry instead.

There are two ways actually.One would be with background watermarks (you can add this under Window > Styles > In model> Edit tab > Watermark settings) or use a sky dome which is practically a big dome of modelle geometry and painted with a hemispherical sky.

Hi Chuck, Withnthe Shift key pressed, you can add/distract any entities to/from your selection so if you have a bunch of plants,use the Shift+Select to select them all then the Ctrl+Move to make copies. You should be able to fill in ares with the textures in the Material browser but first you need to enclose a specific face (to be painted) with edges. The odd mouse behaviour may be due to some harware/software problems. What video card do you have?

Land FX works only out of AutoCAD and now Bricscad. The problem with the modeling is the trees they use look like some kind of umbrellas rather than some of the great trees that are now availble from tom or tree generator. in concept is is a really great tool if you are doing concept through construction docs, but for modelling native SU is better. It really depends on what you are doing.

That's exactly the proper and idealuse of components. Also,to a limited extent,you can make changes to certain instances without affecting the others. These include [list][]scaling []colouring [*]moving and rotating (i.e.positioning and ligning anywhere)[list] BUT in case you don't edit them just do these things "from outside" of the components.

Not that I know of, but someone else might. But what you can do is install the film and stage plugin, then create cameras at each scene. Then copy and paste those cameras into other models as needed. That works pretty good as a workaround. Chris

Mine crashed as well, tried copying it into a new file and that crashed it as well. p.s. those lights arent particularly well modelled (or theyve gone a bit weird on import), you might be better of modelling them yourself.

Yes, Gully (and also Wodan) knows a thing or two about modeling such tricky parts...
