You might need to right click on the GE image and select Texture>Projected. If that doesn't do it, then it seems like sometimes there is some problems with groups. You might need to play with combinations of having your terrain grouped or not grouped and the image be grouped or not grouped. Some combination of both not grouped, or both grouped, or one grouped but not other should theoretically solve the problem. Hope that helps, Chris

Feel like having gold in my hands, not knowing what to do with it. Like i said before Solo handed me a model of a labrador and this is the kind of thing i want to use to make a tut about making all the drawings needed for making this out of stone (or plaster (y-tong) first). But how do i do this? I need a print of the silhouet of the dog, this is easy (i know now) (camera, standard views, front etc) This i could use first to remove all the stone from one side, but then i need the print of the green one in the beginning of this thread. The way i thought of doing this: copy the dog, move it to the left and to the back. create a 'projection on face with faces' to the wall on the right of dog-1, create a 'projection on face with faces' to the wall in front of dog-2, (see attachment-1) select dog-2 and move it 'over' dog-1 (see attachment-2) Now i was planning to use select and intersect with model, remove everything i don't need and then unfold the drawing i would see in front and in the back of the dog, but by intersecting SU is not moving anymore. There is probably an easier way of doing this (trying to get the 2 'green' parts like mentioned earlier) but how? Ofcourse i will keep thinking about this one, but tips are welcome [image: aSfJ_dog0.jpg] [image: HOJU_dog.jpg]

There is a (good, with reservations) ruby program called "simplebeam.rb". It provides a dialogue box for you to input the size of your piece of lumber or plywood. I have used it and I like using it. There are several things to remember with this program: You have to go in and change the centimeters to inches inside the text portion of the ruby, that is if you use inches. The program has a major flaw, after you create one component with the program, if you wish to alter any component or one created by the simplebeam ruby you get 3 error boxes when you right click on any component. I have used this ruby, and then disabled it when I am done. I have tried to look at the innards of this ruby to find the cause of the errors, but being a ruby newby I could not find the flaw. I hope that someone repairs this ruby, because it is most useful. Best,

I am running vista and when I "save target as" the link for the plugin it when to a compatibilities file. I relocated to the plugins folder but the ruby doesn't load when SU is re-opened. Thomas

Absolutely, and thats why wI would love to be able to do all - Cad drawings to model to rendering in SketchUp. I often wonder why there seems to be some kind of protected turf when it comes to this.

MY OS is set to list every folder "by details" not "list" so it shouldn't go back to list mode.

I have to say, Google is so damn decent with their licensing - buying one license and being able to use them on many different machines (only one at a time) and all the other machines automatically switch back to the free version, when the license is in use. the same with network licenses for an office (so you only have to buy a few pro licenses, because for most modelling it is not necessary). that is absolutely fantastic. then free educators licenses and really cheap ones for students... that is absolutely fantastic!

I dont really know a lot about BIM modelling, but from the sounds of it you could do what you want with dynamic components. Specifically, using the generate report function would probably be quite useful.

Hi Ebesan (and welcome). Note that changing the axes is meant to be a temporary thing in SU and the original axis sytem will always prevail in certain situations (like keeping the ground plane - thus the plane the shadow are cast on - in place). You can even reset the (temporarily moved) axes to their original position by right clicking on one of them and selecting "Reset" from the context menu. It will then go back to its original position which we also call "World axes" in SU.

Yeah see?, it totally works differently. I generally prefer the outcome of the FOV tool in the camera menu because it tends to act how I want it to. Its easier to set up smooth scene transitions that way Chris

@chhaya said: ......you can't rotate you model, there is a rotate button that has 2 arrows forming a circle, but that button is to rotate faces and edges only and not the whole model. i know you can pan around the model, but what if you need to re-orient your model?.... Hi chhaya, Your topic says orbit %(#FF0000)[but it seems you need to know more about rotating things, more than one edge or face at a time. You need to make your selection first. There are various different ways to do so. Only once you have your selection made (blue (or with some people yellow)) you next select the 'Rotate' tool.] %(#008000)[How to select: Ctrl+A will select the entire visible model. (not hidden geometry or geometry on unchecked layers); dragging (hold down left mouse button) left to right will select entities that are completely IN the selection box; dragging (hold down left mouse button) right to left will ALSO select all entities that are partly in the selection box; clicking on or dragging while holding down [Ctrl} will add to your selection; clicking on or dragging while holding down [Shift] will add/subtract to/from your selection; suggestions mentioned above combined with selecting geometry through the outliner.] Wo3Dan

@unknownuser said: Not unless you haven't saved the original file. It would be under 'My Documents' if the autosave function saves it before you do... Ah yes. Didn't think of unsaved models. The location of that can be set under Preferences->Files->Models.
