Pilou, Could be wrong but I thought I tried to re-component it, though that did not seem to matter. Gai, I was able to re-position the image after I moved the face, but not at the same time. I think I can do it by making a blank workspace, inserting the old component, exploding it, then regrouping, and saving the new component. Next time I will position the image properly before cutting out the alpha. Every time I do this, I forget some step, and mess up. Takes less time to cutout the alpha then to get the name, etc. right:-) Another reason pro is the way to go. Thanks, all.

Fixed it. If I extrude the face by a cm or two, then apply the texture, it works. Then using the push/pull tool, push the face back to it's original height/ position.

I noticed that the offline version of vector magic http://vectormagic.com/home has a dxf export feature, might be useful if you wanted to do a lot of this type of work.

This would be a case of think like a carpenter. The carpenter doesn't need the hole to exactly fit the sink, the sink just has to fit in the hole and since it has a return around the top edge, it will cover the parts of the hold that don't match the sink. The lazy man's way: First, hide the sink. Double click on the top until you get through the different groupings to where the top most surface is highlighted. Draw a rectangle on the surface of the top. Push pull the rectangle through the depth of the top. Turn on Hidden Geometry under the view Menu without exiting the sink top group, you will now see the ghosted view of the sink. Using the move tool or the push pull tool, move the sides of the hole until they are under the apron of the sink edge. Once that is done click out of the group, right click on the hidden sink and unhide it, turn off the hidden geometry under view and you are done. This uses very little geometry and represents what the carpenter will really do (they may put a radius in the corners but not always). Hope that was clear.

@jim said: And also there is the repair broken lines plugin: http://www.crai.archi.fr/RubyLibraryDepot/Ruby/repair_broken_lines.rb Should be a standard on everyone's system. Hi Jim, Thank you for your post. The repair broken lines is the ultimate solution. Hope the developer can make it a contextual menu and let it show up as a right click option. Thank you very much. Regards, Paul

I've been investigating this further and have found that the problem can be reliably reproduced. I have submitted this to the Google forum at http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/sketchup/thread?tid=6b0a0298daee1261&hl=en At the above link I have posted links to SU files that can reproduce the error, as well as a YouTube video showing the bug in action. The work-around in my case seems to be to ensure that the component is in "edit" before using Project Photo (when using match photo). Hope this helps some others

I got Win7 and a nVidia 8800GT card - works great. Smooth as anything. Pretty sure it's a hardware/driver issue.

@huyvuvn said: Hi all, I have this problem , please help me to solve this. when I add many sections and scenes , when I hide the section in scene 1 , I click "update" in 'scene' docking-window, when I go to scene 3 , and I go to scene 1 again , the section .... auto unhide.... so that I can not export the animation.... (many scene can not hide the section... the scene not clearly) the link for download this file http://www.mediafire.com/?snjbmmg1jzj Many thanks, Not 100% sure of my understanding of your problem but try this and see if it helps. For the scene set the active section, turm off section plane view but leave section cut on. Update your scene and see if that helps @unknownuser said: @unknownuser said: @unknownuser said:

You could do it manually, with the scale tool.

You can always unhide hidden geometry in the View menu and work on it as if it wasn't softened.

Hi Sildeman, Have a look at some of the car modelling basics among these tutorials: http://www.sketchucation.com/intermediate-tutorial-index/ Indeed, such "organic" shapes are not easy in SU but with some prectice, you can get ever better. Also, here is a tutorial about placing 3D text on a curved surface - you will get the basic idea and from there on, can do it on any kind of surface: http://www.sketchucation.com/creating-3d-text-on-a-cylinder-in-google-sketchup/
