I honestly don't know. This is the only app that I know can somehow and somewhat "bake" textures (with bumps and lighting) in SU.

@eric_j said: @ All Actually, what StyleBuild could do is allow the user to generate architectural styles. Insert generic doors and windows. Click on "Colonial Style, and the windows are divided light double-hung numbers. "Mediterranean" and they're casements. "Ranchburger" gives you aluminum sliders with no casings. Etc. If it did that, it would be more than a dust collector, I think. Sounds like Dynamic Components are a good candidate for that.

You just need one or two more steps....after using follow-me like you did, then select all > intersect with model(if necessary) > and erase the unwanted geometry. Then use eraser + shift or control to clean up the lines on the surface.

San I was afraid of that... No inspector. Thanks for the videos. I'm now confortable using skp, and the pdf manual too, but an extra help is always wellcome.

@al hart said: The locked feature on groups and components is marked as SU 6. If it was added that recently, I wonder why they didn't invent some kind of owner/password scheme for it. (Of course, it they had, someone would have had to find a way to remove the password - e.g. save as DAE and reload.) I just checked with SU5 - no locking feature. Though, the manual never reports anything less than SU6. The Locking is like you'd use in Photoshop, Illustrator etc, as Jeff mentioned. Also in AutoCAD. It's not to prevent other people from ever from editing it. It's just a safety mechanism to protect you from yourself when you're being a bit zealous with the selection tool and eraser. I use when I import CAD plans into SU to model from. I lock the imported plan while I model on top of it. That way I ensure that I don't confidentially move the plan around and mess things up. Password protecting it would be going a bit far. Locking is just something which forces you to be 100% conscious that you actually want to edit/delete an object.

@don9of11 said: @tig said: 2D Tools z-plane ? Are you referring to a ruby script or is there a 2D tools in the SketchUp? 2D Tools is a set of Tools added to the Draw Menu by my Ruby scripts - it mimics most of the 3D tools constrained onto a selected 2D z-plane... There are also the separate Tools on Surface - which mimic many drawing tools onto 3D curved surfaces...

I used the sandbox tools to make some quick terrain but the bumps are not showing well in KT. (I know use a bump map) So I tired the "color by Z" plugin and I thought I could make a bump map of the terrain to use in KT. The color by Z gives a color to all the different faces based on height and these faces show up in KT as different colors (obviously) si I could work with each face individually. I'm not sure where I am going with this....but all I wanted was some quick landscape around the bridge. Does this make sense? Hi folks. I use small icons to be able to fit more tools in less space. Being 56 do not means that I necessarily need large icons To choose the size of icons you can also use Menu Window --> Preferences --> Workspace. Just ideas.

@marshmallow said: nevermind, I figured it out. you have to press enter to finish the move and then type it in and press enter again. Let's have the solution here so the next SketcherUp with the same problem might Google up exactly what they need. You don't type into the VCB. It is a reporter, not an input box. You just type (right, you type into thin air!) and nothing you type matters until you press Enter. Oh, yeah. The VCB (Value Control Box) is that box in the lower-right corner. Recent Google docs have been giving it other names, such as Measurements Box.

Thanks everyone. I switched the open GL to "maximum texture size" and the image is much clearer and not as fuzzy. It still imported at a smaller size, but then I just scaled it up to the correct size.

Did you check the glueing like was mentioned? Please verify. Also, is there any chance that the group was created by a ruby plugin? There could be a known bug there if it was. Chris
