Hi Jack, You would require as many floating licenses as you need for the number of computers you want to render from at any one time. Ie; if you have 5 workstations and you would want all 5 to be able to render at the same time, you'd need 5 floating licenses. However, if only two of the five needed concurrent rendering access at any one time, then only two floating licenses are needed. The beauty is, any of the workstations can send rendering jobs to the server, as long as only two of the five are doing it in this example. The licenses are controlled at the server so it's a simple setup. No muss, no fuss. If you need more workstations to render concurrently, then you can incrementally add floating licenses as needed. This scales nicely and can help match your growth without overspending on licensing costs. Here's a reference: http://www.indigorenderer.com/features/floatinglicences As for SU Pro, I don't believe so. I checked the Indigo site and a few others but didn't find anything requiring SU Pro. The Skindigo exporter plugin works with both free and Pro versions. SU 8 IS required however. The reason I was suggesting just getting a dedicated server is because I have experience in building a rendering farm. Some years ago I built a farm that used POVray over a network using Erlang. At the time I was learning the Erlang language and I had always wanted to build a rendering farm. While the project was successful, it required a lot of tweaking and such to get working decently. Personally, I think Indigo's network rendering solution is robust, efficient and would give you a very good ROI. Cheers.

I was browsing around turbosquid and found this page - it shows ballpark prices for 3D-related services. http://custom-3d.turbosquid.com/

@numbthumb said: No hassle Select: Window > Model Info > Statistics > Purge Unused But I don´t really think that the system can repeatedly crash just because of your model. You should scan it for scumware in any case. Oh, and yes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkJNyQfAprY Cheers! I didnt know that. I like your attitude... here... I.... upon this time and place... am more like "run like hell" Thanks

You're welcome. Another thing I find helpful is to zoom in a bit and sometimes I'll put in crossing guidelines that intersect at major points to make it easier to snap the line tool where I want it. You might also find it easier if you disable Length Snapping in Model Info>Units.

If you have the real world location you should be able to geo-locate you SKP and then import the land-form including a mesh. Then you can model building on top of that... You'll need to add trees etc too... You'll need v8 Pro to do this effectively... There are several good tutorials out there - as a simple Google search will show - e.g. http://sketchup.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=36241

As far as that goes, if you choose to export as an animation, you can choose JPG or PNG as the export type and, under Options, choose the image size. You'll get an export of every scene.

@solo said: Post this problem here: http://www.thearender.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=63 A solution will follow. I cannot be certain but uninstalling it should work (removing any Thea files from plugin folders manually also) and deleting some stuff in the 'app data' folder (this is the part I'm not sure of) Thanks for your reply I have posted the problem in the Thea Forum. The problem is posted there from a previous version and I followed the instructions around deleting the path text file but unfortunately SU does not offer me another option to choose the path. Peter

Did that give you thickness of did you let the plugin remove the original faces? It looks like the latter.

Since SketchUp is not a parametric modeller, saving snapshots is the only way to get back to specific version of a model. A simple approach using a plugin - such as prompting the user for a few notes and saving the file; combined with a history browser that displays the notes and thumbnail might be enough for most users. Possibly introduce the idea of branching (the concept borrowed from software version control systems)

Could you use the ideas in the 4 points made from my 'quadded' triangle example [you don't actually divide the faces! just find pt 4] to map the UVs onto the triangle this would take the edge shared with a quad for one alignment automatically as the pt 4 is always centered on that shared edge and offset at a right-angle giving the other alignment, with the other aligned to a joining quad edge?[image: z4ac_Capture.PNG]

Awsome thanks.. I't seem that there are really a lot of small subtleties that you have to know or it will feel like bugs. Something like punching holes in a wall are dependant on stuff that aren't exactly logical at first?

The two 'wireframes' of the forms overlaid shows they are not identical - but why such small differences in their forms have such dramatic affects is their smooth appearance is a mystery...[image: ddZ3_Capture.PNG]
