Hi folks. You can control this using Window menu --> Model Info --> Components. Check or uncheck the last box at the bottom that is labeled Show component axes. Just ideas.

The scene is no longer useful in v8. Your GPU handles textures and styles while 1 core of your CPU handles geometry. So you want a good reliable GPU and a CPU with a high clock speed. -Brodie

Could be that the graphic card doesn't handle multiple 3d applications. Can you have multiple SketchUp windows open? Some users report that they can't have more than a couple, or even just one, SketchUp window - this appear to be related to the graphic card capabilities. Have you tried temporarily disabling Hardware Acceleration in SU - just to verify it's a graphic card issue.

Hi Sam, hi folks. @ak-sam said: Great tip Jean! I'd like to be able to delete anything that isn't visible in a scene. If by delete you really want to remove the hidden geometry from the model, try this: 1 - Select all. All the non hidden objects get selected. 2 - Unhide all and also show all hidden layers. All hidden objects appear but are not selected. 3 - Press and hold the SHIFT key to Add/Subtract from the selection. 4 - While still pressing the SHIFT key, do a window select to englobe all the model, including already selected objects. These get unselected while all the rest gets selected. 5 - Delete the selection. BTW, to show all layers you do not have to click on the visibility check box for each one. There is a trick that seems undocumented. You click on the first layer, then press the SHIFT key and, while pressing it, click on the last layer. All of them will be selected. Then, click on the visibility check box of any hidden layer and it will be shown as well as all others. Just ideas.

Layer0 is special in terms that raw (ungrouped) geometry being on it will always keep its visibility. In your case (without going into this "speciality"), the solution would be to group that geometry displaying those images and place the group on a separate layer (which now you can hide).

I was going to create a new thread slightly similar to this but I happened to find this in a search so decided to ask here if there was a plugin similar to the functions of the transform type in box found in 3ds Max. [image: 1u0q.jpg] Anybody that's fimilar with this knows it basically behaves differently depending on the transform tool used. There are x,y & z coordinates both relative and absolute for move, scale, rotate. It works at both at the top-level of an object and subobject level (vertices, polygons etc) I've searched for this on the forum, but if anyone knows of anything similar please let me know. I believe this is my first post, I've been reading for a while now and I have to say it's one of the best forums out there.

All right, I sent you a dummy email you can respond to. (And at the same time, removed your email address from your post if you do not mind - it1s not wise to post such personal data publicly)

Ah, right, the push/pull command! I ended up drawing a simplified set of planes (like a bunch of playing cards glued together end to end, at different elevations) then push/pulling the road drawing through the ring of cards, and intersecting with model. Worked like a charm. I also downloaded Instant Roads. Going to try out the demo some time in the future. Thanks for the help everyone

@richardu said: You understood perfectly and answered my question and more. Thank you. I'll do without seeing the edges from the visible side. Richard Hidden lines can be set in a scene. Normally you export views from scenes. Save a scene from one side with the lines showing, and save a scene from the other side with the lines hidden.

Mark, I finally duplicated the problem...sorta: Bush first then tree...ok. Copied bush...bad. Tree then bush...bad. Copied tree over all bushes...ok. ??? But all is fixed if the tree png transparency is changed from 98 to 100. Also, my trees and bushes (in fact, all textures) will look better if you turn off "allow anti-aliased textures"...SU remains lousy at anti-aliasing. Best, Tom.

80% of the time, if I selected Sketchup Pro 8 "File -> Import...", I immediately got the Bugsplat, and Sketchup would close. If I kept relaunching Sketchup, and selecting Import, eventually the Import Browser would remain open and allow me to import the dwg or dxf file. I figured it might be due to my Autocad 2006 program (which is technically incompatible with Windows 7, even though it does seem to work okay), so I uninstalled Autocad 2006. Now I no longer get the Bugsplat. I installed Autocad 2006 on a different machine than the machine that I run Sketchup on. Of course, that solution is also a work around, because it would be better to be able to run both applications on the same machine. I have been looking around for a newer Autocad version (Windows 7 compatible) to see if that will help, but it sounds like you all are saying that the Bugsplat will still occur, and that Trimble (and Autodesk?) will need to fix the bug.
