Here is an old post on old post on uncropping a photo. It would also work to fix photos that have had tilt shift done. But I agree, for your example, could just draw a box and then project texture manually, and skew as necessary. http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=10895

I use http://www.screenr.com/ to make vids, but any screen grab tool will do. Very easy if you have a youtube account, they can be embedded in posts.

This- or a similar condition- has been mentioned and discussed before, where opening an older file will expose previously hidden edges. I don't think there was a resolution. It must be a graphics card/OpenGL issue? Or is it Sketchup randomly dropping these attributes?

Also, forgot to mention. If the model checks out and everything is true/square, then use the delete coplanar plugin, and all those goofy extraneous lines will go away. I'm not sure how to link you to the page with the plugin, but it is in the plugin sub-forum somewhere here on Sketchucation

Certainly purge all unused stuff, but if your model is large due to the nature of the model, Chris Fulmer had a great tip regarding using scenes to handle large models. It is a very creative way to deal with this issue. I'm not sure if his models were as large, but I think his methodology might be applied to your situation. Watch the first part of the Basecamp Video, link below http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9_F-bSGrKs There are also great tips in the rest of the video, but the first part might be helpful.

Hi, IAho: Since you mentioned plugin in your thread title, maybe tak2hata's Building Structure Tools? maybe not. What I said in my first reply still holds. When you insert all of those skp's of different parts of your assembly, they are defined as components in your working file. That is because a Sketchup component is basically a .skp file itself. Collecting a bunch of components and defining this collection as a component with a unique name will create an "assembly". Does this help?

Well, thanks for the feedback - I hope to be able to add a couple of new ones every week. They may look a bit too "specialized" (with those architecture history class taste) but I hope everyone will find them useful and discover little tips or techniques that can be used in other contexts, too.

Excellent advices ! If the material of the printed parts is good enough(won't broke or chip) you could use a tap and a die(which would be like $10) and the outcome will be great !

This is a 'duplicate check' It's straightforward for objects that are instances of the same component with the same insertion point / transformation, in the same context... copy/paste+<enter> this one-liner in the Ruby Console - it works on a selection containing component-instances... m=Sketchup.active_model;s=m.selection;a=s.grep(Sketchup;;ComponentInstance);s.clear;d=[];a.each{|i|next unless i.definition.instances[1];t=i.transformation.to_a;(i.definition.instances-[i]).each{|e|(d<<i;s.add(e))if !d.include?(e) && e.transformation.to_a==t && e.parent.entities==m.active_entities;};}; The duplicates are highlighted on completion. If you start with Entity Info open it will show what's selected still etc... Pressing <delete> when the SketchUp window has focus will remove the duplicated item... It gets more tricky when they are 'symmetrical' and perhaps placed overlaid 'handed' - therefore with different insertion points but seemingly occupying the same volume. A matching bounding-box check could work BUT is not foolproof... I think thomthom might have done something like this ? Do a search...

Round all the way up both top and bottom. The foot part at the end will stay mostly flat with maybe a smooth bevel on it.
