If the folder with the exact same path doesn't exist on the new computer, SketchUp will not be able to make the link. Can you not edit the location by clicking on the icon just to the right of the text field?

Have you (or them) tried the 'Import SKP' plugin for AutoCAD based products? Looks like you have to save your SKP file down to a r2013 format, I think. I have it and have used it several times with no issues.

It is possible to have a plugin not only remind you, but to actually save the model as v2014 whenever the model is saved by normal methods (using File > save, or ctrl-s.) I'll post something hopefully today. One problem though is a doubling of the save time since the model will be saved once as the default version, then again as the v2014 version. So maybe this is not the best way.

Typing it in something like Notepad also shows as a dot. I've installed the germal keyboard layout to test and it does type a comma. I also happen to have a german stand alone number pad and it has a comma printed on the key. It seems to me that historically the German number pad decimal key is a comma, which coincides with the decimal separator set in the operating system. I now realise my problem is not with Sketchup but with the system.

By default the O key is for the Orbit tool. If you hit Spacebar you drop the Orbit tool and revert to the select tool. The Shift key is a modifier for the Orbit tool to fire Pan mode. CTRL fires Suspend Gravity mode.

You change the color mode from "indexed" to "RGB" in the photo editor and then load back into the SU model and then it should render the correct color/texture. I did not know that. I have heard about color being the proper mode, but not the specific problem.

I figured it out. I had downloaded the 32bit version and I needed the 64 bit version. Twilight had 2 different download pages. Problem resolved.

If you make the components unique and use Eneroths Texture positioning extensions Depatternize you can, but then you would lose the components. So be sure you won't need to edit them later on. I think that I have a solution for this. Paint the first face with your material. Right click on the texture and choose TEXTURE and then PROJECTED. Then you should be able to paint with aligned texture. It works for me at least.

As Dave said, you haven't given us much SketchUp-specific info to go on, which leaves open the possibility that SU is a victim of some other problem with your system. For example, some other process that is hogging memory, CPU, or disk. Or maybe issues with a network connection. Or maybe something has decreased the mouse "speed"...
