You should be able to apply a texture to anything in SU regardless of its origin.Note however that if it comes grouped or as component, you may first need to explode it or enter its editing context (double click to edit)

@alan fraser said: You can triple click the dome to highlight all the surfaces and the lines then r-click and choose Soften/Smooth Edges from the context menu. Adjust the slider till they all disappear. If you want to smooth only a few specific edges, use the Eraser with Ctrl held down. thanx guys. alan, that worked great

oh, never mind. I'm canning the whole idea any way. I can't believe you would do that for me, seriously?? Thanks Ray. Anyway, another great idea bites the dust.

Generally "face" must be perpendicular to the line start So rotate it, Select the path, then click the surface Of course depending of the form of the path and the profil of the surface intersections can be produced Here the path is also built with some segments of lines, you must weld them with a plugin before Weld.rbby R Wilson Crossings is of course source of problem If you want skin you can use this Skin22by D Belvin [image: BYTD_exp.jpg]

I think it's just the "labels" getting lost. If I open up my Music Files and have the file open, then click on the open Sketchup, then hover over the Music Files at the bottom of my screen, then a label appears pretty much exactly like yours. The label in mine appears at the bottom of the screen and I just think yours is appearing randomly for some reason. [image: screen10kd9.jpg] [image: screen10kd9.74b63e7324.jpg]

If you have lots of faces to reverse try the free ReverseFaces.rb plugin from Smustard. (http://www.smustard.com)

You can reproduce the bug even in 2D: draw a rectangle, move a point of the rectangle so that two edges cross, you'll get a triangular face and an emtpy triangle: [image: mAsW_Image8.jpg] now select all and intersect, if you delete any side of the empty triangle the triangular face that has apparently nothing to do gets deleted too. I think that SU still considers all those edges as bounding edges of the face. SU still considers all the edges as a single polygon that just happens to have a point that gets used twice. Try for instance to place the point you moved to its initial position and then select the face: you'll notice that there is just one face: [image: AdSP_Image10.jpg] hope this helps somehow.

Being able to move the dimension text would be helpful; I've been doing some work in Layout and it can be a time-wasting pain to get the blasted text in a visible place. Better yet - for my current purposes - would be for the dimensioning to be done in Layout and not in the raw model. I

allthough this may not be useful in most situations... could cause quite some confusion and errors among inexperienced users. would be good perhaps, if you could enable this function - leave it disabled by default, when first installing SketchUp

Oh, sorry, I wanted to link to Fredo's and didn't even check the link just copied it. The one I linked to creates surfaces (or grids) based on bezier curves. Great script, too!

Oh, that's so true! Every model done (finished or not..) and the model folder is full with every step imaginable of the entire "development history" - for now, a manual process. This autosave configuration is a must have, but I think that it must be integrated with Sketchup. And yes, I too think that crashes are related to certain operations when saving, like plugins.

What went free with v6 are basically sandbox print to scale (and other print) options - in v5 it was limited to "fit to page" 2d graphic export optiions - in v5 it was limited to screen resolution animation export (afaik) the ability to use rbs plugins What is still "missing": Export models in 3DS, DWG, DXF, OBJ, XSI, VRML, and FBX file formats LayOut (and lately StyleBuilder) Location tab in the Model info (Win only - funnily the Mac version has it - but Jim wrote a plugin for that already) The little [image: welcome-Plus.jpg] image however appears all over in the SU Guide according to v5. Google forgot to update this part of the guide (and a whole lot of things are also missing there - just think about intersect with selected or intersect with context which came with SU6).

Main thing is to turn off prospective and use the standard views. Look at this page; select Printing to see the tutorial. http://sketchup.google.com/gsu5vtviewer.html#id=24

Yeah, also the drape tool. One can never spare some investigation in glitches and some hand work on the model.

Thanks, We've been trying to figure out how to make our websites more friendly for users. Someone suggested that our forum posts would be better if we had a photo for our avatar rather then the avatar we are currently using. Also, there has been some debate as to whether we should do more support here on the SketchUcation Forum, (since people don't have to join and watch multiple forums - one for SketchUp and another for the Render Plus add-ons). Some people just don't like the Wiki approach to documentation. We find it very convenient, because it is so very easy to add things to the documentation. When we get a query that someone doesn't understand something, we can update the Wiki very, very quickly. For instance, I changed all the pages in the Bump Map section (6 different pages) yesterday as I reviewed them when posting the link to them. SU Podium can be very easy to use - since it has a single dialog - and only allows a couple of settings - illumination and reflection. Our lighting model, for example, can be very complex - predefined light bulbs, automatic illumination from SketchUp light components, pre-defined lights on the 3D Warehouse, a wizard to create ceiling, floor and table lamps, and finally, user defined lights using glowing materials or glowing faces. Then when you define a glowing face, you can use several lighting models - omni directional, diffuse one sided, directional, or spot effect. The problem with offering powerful options for how to do something is that it makes the product more and more complex. I would appreciate any criticisms or suggestions you or anyone else may have.
