I Need Serious Help!!!! I Lost vray SU Dongle!!!!
-
Hi vray users and vray support team,
I am in Hong Kong. Unfortunately, I lost my vray for sketchup dongle. I read about other people who lost a dongle. they could simply purchase a new dongle then set it up and it will up and run again. BUT, in hong kong, the reseller is telling me I have to purchase a new License, Not a new dongle to make it work. yes you heard it right, I have to purchase a new license!!! simply because I lost a USB dongle!! It just doesn't make sense that how that policy works!! I am already in agonising pain that I lost the dongle and project deadlines are coming soon. Please help me out. Let the vray team know and vray users please help me reach the words to them. I am only asking for a fair deal.
It's like if I lost a house key then I lose the house?!! how does that make sense. it's bad customer service. it's bad customer support if I have to purchase a new license, if i simply lose a usb dongle in Hong Kong. please please
please help me. please and thanks in advance!!!
I am really in pain now! -
I'm sorry to hear, I know what deadlines are like. To speed things up I would email Chaos Group directly as this is simply a community driven SketchUP forum which has a few Chaos Group members reading from time to time.

glad you found it... Chaos never gave any help?

I contacted them and the reseller. They really wanted me to purchase a new license. That's their policy. But somehow they got me a one year rental license for about 30% of the price of a new license. In the condition that I could upgrade to vray 3.0 in a year. If vray comes out in a year!
That's why I said don't lose the dongle!!
I thought they would just give me a new USB dongle.
But it's not. -
I'll consider that if I ever think about V-Ray in the future. Glad you found it.

thanks. it was huge relief. and now we may have the chance to render in vray sketchup 2015. even better.

But it's not.Hi,
That is not our policy at all. I'm glad to hear you found it, but please contact us directly at sales@chaosgroup.com and let them know your initial issue and who your re-seller is because you should only have to pay for a replacement dongle.

Good to hear Ted... Thanks for commenting.

Thanks Ted for the comment. and I did contact sales and support from chaosgroup!
But the sad reality is They did tell me I have to pay for a new license fee, because its due to abuse of dongle license use. I think it really applies to Asian market. I told them it's not fair and it doesn't make sense. It really hurts customers at the end. a policy can be bad. you have to be brave enough to tell them it's wrong. I still don't like that policy at all, even though I really enjoying using vray for su.I'm glad I found my dongle at the end.

There are some specific requirements that have to be met for us to replace the Dongle. I think your case was a special one which is why we were not going to replace it. I'm going to send you a PM with some more specific instructions.
