I assume you're running SU 8/LO 3. Your status shows SU 7. In LO 3 there was a bunch of work done to prevent corrupted documents from saving. If it was allowed to save, then the saved file would be corrupt. Most corrupt files had connections (leaders/dimensions). If you could provide more details, like a LO file that you start with and the steps that you did to not be able to save, that would be helpful in fixing the bug.

You can attach LO files here (we even hve a special icon for them) but indeed that file size seems to be too big.

I also saw your Laser Scan thread which is great! Hope to see more of your results with this method.

How long have you given it to finish? Vector rendering can take a very long time.
If you can get us the file we can see what's going on.

Layout works with scenes and styles. So try to make a scene updated with hidden section planes and it should work.

TIG means that you can edit a png image in an external editor and add transparency to it. You cannot interactively adjust its transparency in LO so you have to find out how much you want to adjust it in your image editor and then get stuck to it.

Are you using a Macbook? I've had many problems with Sketchup and Layout crashing on my Macbook.

Yes for the dotted (and dashed and dash-dot etc) lines, yes for centre lines (depending on what you precisely want) no for hatching unless you do it manually.

Yes, as there is a 3D Warehouse for 3D SketchUp models, there could be a 2D Warehouse for LayOut content. No-one seems to have started such a venture yet.

That could easily be done (I mean sharing LO templates) although they are rather specialized and personalized most of the times so this is not what other people generally do.

It should be, and I'd be interested if you have a reproducible case where it isn't. Where it definitely is not robust at this time is if you dimension in LayOut, then make a bunch of geometry changes in SketchUp to the model. The points we attach to in your 3D model are not persistent / uniquely ID'd so that we can say that we can find the point you wanted after the geometry changed. For this reason, we'd recommend doing dimensions after the modeling has settled down.

Anything more specific? Modes of how to update the model, or workflow? We'd also suggest turning auto rendering off, and controlling model rendering yourself for larger documents (when there are model changes); you can right click on a page with dirty models and select "Render Models on Page".

Another way is to open one document and save it as scrapbooks from the file menu
. Open the other document and just drag and drop them out of the scrapbook gallerie. It's quit easy to do 😉
