Yes, that's what I also meant. Most of the (modelling) ruby plugins "only" automate ways SU can do and you could also do by hand - although admittedly very slowly and painstakingly. There's nothing wrong in using plugins of course, I was just going to say that in order to fully "master" SU, you have to be able to do most things by hand also and this way understand how things (and even plugins) work.

Then of course there is definitely a kind of "shortage" in good tutorial examples about using ruby scripts and good demonstrations about how different plugins help you with speeding up modelling would really be cool.

    Hi FenS,

Do you mean in the title of each part? That may be a good idea, but I don't want people to get the idea that these are stand alone tutorials. One should start with part 1 and progress through the parts in order. I'll give that some thought.

very cool indeed. I think you should post this in the gallery section to get more attention to it. This is a very cool thing that dynamic components can do that I don't think most users even think is possible.

    Gaieus,

Your twisted strip inspired me to try a moebius strip using similar techniques.

    Hi Dennis,

It should be Flash IMO. That's the most cross-platform and cross-browser format and its embedding routine is also straightforward. Sure you could also try to embed QT asmost PC users have a plugin for that.

    Hi Gerd,

Here is the author (and a couple of his posts).

Also something "similar" (a table cloth tutorial) was made by Pete but mind you, it needs a commercial plugin for the job.

    Thanks Solo,

Really good tut. I didn't know you could use protrude on any other shape besides square/rectangle. I learn here every day. Cool render.
    Cheers,

my advice would be to just give it a go. Make sure youve got frdo06's tools on surface plugin (you can find it in the ruby forum) and then just model away.
