Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

@squirrel said: Okay i was wondering when i make a house how do i go inside it and decorate it because when i go to put furniture in it i cant see in side the house to kno where to put it You can also use section planes to temporarily hide some of your model. @hazza said: You just need practice, I use the middle button to do my rotating. Hazza, I think Squirrel does not mean "Orbiting" [image: cam-ToolOrbitLarge.png] but "Rotating" Squirrel, the best would be to group your geometry (all that logically belongs together) and rotate it that way. This also goes for the "Move" tool

Be aware of and very careful about georeferencing in SU 7. Whenever it is turned on and you take a GE snapshot, it won't be overridden by the snapshot and you may end up with it miles away from the SU origin and with a floating model upon GE export. Have a look at the attached image; At the bottom left there is the "Georeferencing" button. It should read as "Off" when you are modeling far away from your default or custom location. The safest would be to save your default template with georeferencing turned off. [image: aY7A_ScreenShot003.jpg]

No, unfortunately, if I try to rename the .skm file in the application support library location, it reverts to its original name on reopening SU, as well as to the original material properties. If I rename the material in the edit field in SU, it retains the new name, but not the edited properties on reopening.

A great idea, but as a word of warning, if you need to use a lot of these, the polycount of your model will grow quite fast, so in most cases I would recommend using textures, with or without alpha transparency. Of course, this one casts very beautiful shadows... Anssi

Awesome, I'm glad you found it. I felt bad not being able to work this one out, so I'm glad you were able to. Its frustrating when things don't work as they should. Good job Ken, Chris

@gaieus said: I think that bath tub with the glass siding would be too sexy for my taste but nice, true. Ya, but think about the ham you could press against that side piece... I agree with Mike and Solo...keep the colors as neutral as you can..just splash a little color as an accent or to key in accesories..unless you never plan on moving....

I'd like the shorter part to become the lead.. Now it is satisfactory: [image: 1100285_removing_the_piece.jpg] The 1st question is how does one re-adjust the axes. The 2nd question refers to the circle object. I'd like to move the indicated part. Tnx

What kind of objects were used to make the AutoCad model? Was it made in AutoCad Architecture? (formerly Architectural Desktop) In that case it has to be "exploded" before importing it. It is done by using the Export to AutoCad function from inside a 3D window (using a plan view generates a 2D plan). Or, if your application has it, use the "AECOBJEXPLODE" command. When importing, use the "Merge coplanar faces" option in SU to avoid triangulation, and be sure you have the correct import units. Anssi

Hi Sake_boy, hi folks. I think you have missed my post which is the third in this thread. I explained in it what layers are for in SU and what to do to separate geometries. I suggest that you go back and read it. Just ideas.

Hi David, Sorry to hear your first experience with a z-corp machine left a bit to be desired. However, the level of detail on the model is very nice. Was the model for a healthcare clinic? Seams can be tricky to work with...with a bit of work you can get pretty solid surfaces where the edges touch. Yet, they can take a bit of time. Here's a few photos of before and after. Also, thought you might get a kick out of this small bathroom and room layout we did for a client that builds temporary housing plans using SketchUp. Amazing what can come out of 3D Warehouse and eventually a 3d printer. How did the model work for your client meeting? I used to sometimes render with Carrara 3, an I recently installed v. 5 from a disk bundled with a magazine, but I really havent't had time to play with it. As I used it only for rendering, I found then that it was easiest for me to export the model from SU as a single object, and I just tried and found that the approach would probably work still. The properties of the materials are there still to be tweaked in the "Texture room" even if they are all contained within the same object. Anssi

I have worked for many years in the simulation industry and worked with MultiGen Creator. This 3D modeling tool had a very nice option called “Isolate select”. If you are working on a complex model or scenery and having difficulty with speed or parts that are blocking your view when going around it than this option is very useful. Just select the part you need to work on and type “I” and a new workspace opens, it is also possible to switch between the two workspaces. Henri

Did you make your resolution bigger or smaller? What if you reset it? If they appear, just undock them somewhere in the middle, resize again and start docking them back where they fit.
