      Hi guys,

I'm having to do some presentation quality prints from a model file. Problem is if I try to export at more than 3000 pixels then sketchup just fails to output the file. An error message pops up that reads "Failed to save file xx.jpg" I have also tried TIF and PNG formats with the same results.
Any reason for this? I've already seen by browsing the forums that some people manage more than 4000+px for exported 2D images.
My machine is pretty high spec, also 64bit and 8 GB of RAM available so not sure what it wrong really. I am still using SUPro6, if that makes any difference. Any ideas guys?

Export out as big as you need with anti-aliasing off. Then compress it in your image editor to whatever size you need. Had the same issue long ago. Hope this helps.

Love the fact that some HATE my avatar.....

Alternatively you could upgrade to version 7 (or just install the free version alongside version 6 pro) as it is much better at handling larger images.

Unfortunately not Scott, but thanks for the response. I'll give the free version of SKU7 a shot.

Mr. munkey, I recently had a similar problem, and my solution was to use Layout, and then export it as a PDF with the quality set at max. The 48" long image came out very sharp and clear. That was with Layout2; not familiar with the previous version.

Also, if you increase your virtual memory you should be able to export slightly larger images.

              My avatar is an anachronism.

Do that. Your error message would indicate some kind of memory shortage which sounds ridiculous with 8 Gb of RAM.

I only have 2 Gb and ould export 9999 pixel wide png with AA off and 5500 pixels with AA on. Even TIFF came out 9600 pixels with AA off (154 Mb file size ๐Ÿ˜ฒ ) and 5000 pixels with AA on. They all exported within like 1-2 minutes from SU 7.

If there was any significant improvement from SU 6 to SU 7, image export is definitely one. ๐Ÿ‘

Could be worth a shot Daniel, the virtual memory maybe an issue. I have a feeling that SU6 is not accessing all of the 8GB of RAM because its a 32bit app.

That would be a very reasonable explanation.
