BlenderGIS can get you pretty good images.. you do need an API key to get set up but it's all free and you can even generate 3d geometry based on the elevations in the satellite images.. it tiles in blender so you the more you zoom the better the image quality to a point.

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

I use this one... http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=ene_texturepositioning_v1.0.2_0 It comes with a rotate 90° tool (right/left) and you can assign shortcuts. The other tool i use a lot is the "align texture to edge". Very helpful!

Thanks Charlie, I know about the difference between 2d and 3d DXF export. The problem is different. In the attached image you can see what the problem is I encounter. The DXF export does generate true arcs (non segmented) code, so far so good, but... In both the DXF to G-code translators I use (free ace converter and USB CNC, the last one a professional program), the G code based on a DXF file generated by sketchup pro 8 results in a mirrored output. I believe that translation is your model units from Sketchups orgin at 0.00, 0.00 based on the lat/long of the location you selected, hope that makes sense, not sure if I explained myself clearly

@pbacot said: Don't you have "Geolocation / Add location?" Is that a Pro only feature too? Get Location is available in SketchUp Make but manually setting north requires the plugin from the link and it is only functional in the Pro version.

When you say you install SketchUcation toolset from the RBZ, and up pops the SketchUcation dialog, do you mean the large main-dialog listing various plugins, OR the smaller toolbar with three icons [red/blue/gray] ? The SketchUcation toolbar is automatically active when the SketchUcation Extension is activated. You can deactivate its toolbar it by using the Extensions > SketchUcation submenu entry to toggle it off/on, or use native View > Toolbar-dialog to deactivate the SketchUcation entry, or simply click on its close button... [You'll then need to use the View > Toolbar-dialog, or Extensions > SketchUcation submenu entry to reactivate it (toggle)] You can deactivate the Extension itself using Window > Preferences > Extensions and un-checking the SketchUcation entry. You previously said the SketchUcation dialog was opening when you used File > New - I now suspect you really meant the SketchUcation Toolbar ? It should stay off when deactivated as outlined above... If NOT, then can you please provide a screen-shot of the flaky behavior ? Assuming the main-dialog is being flaky... Whenever you tell us the install SketchUp you skim over the part about 'as admin'... If you do NOT select the SketchUp installer-exe icon and right-click > context-menu > Run as Administrator - then SketchUp will install with potential weird happenings stored up for later... Simple being a user with admin-powers is NOT the same, so double-clicking the exe or using context-menu > Run, will NOT work properly and result is weird issues... Thousands of users of Win 10 and v2016 AND the SketchUcation ExtensionStore plugin have no issues like this, so something is adrift with your set up... That's why I suspect a faulty SketchUp installation, resulting in subsequent flaky extension installations/operations [not just SCF's] If you have NOT installed SketchUp by running its installer as the administrator, then I suggest you do the following... Close SketchUp. Ensure you have your SketchUp 2016 installer-exe at hand for use later... Right-click Win 10 icon bottom-left of Windows toolbar > Control Panel > UNINSTALL SketchUp 2016... When that is complete, use 'Run as Administrator' on the installer-exe icon as explained at the start of this post. When that's done, reinstall ALL of your extensions/plugins. The earlier uninstall will have left them intact, but in case the flaky SketchUp has damaged permissions etc, I recommend you start afresh. Install them a few at a time, and test to see if there are issues... Report back... If should not be so difficult

It installs a hidden plugin for each version of SU it finds... if you installed it before you installed v16, then it couldn't find it and won't function in v16... A complete reinstall of the driver does insure v16 gets a copy of the plugin... and as your not on a mac, it shouldn't crash and burn your computer like it does on mine... although, Box has had a few problems on his PC of late... john

Something I started doing was using MP4's, as the file size is much smaller - the sacrifice being the quality sometimes, but it's good enough for my needs. What you mentioned is what I did though, just stitch them together in some movie editing software. Hey ho!

@anton_s said: Hello garystan, I'm no expert, but it seems like a javascript error, coming from a webdialog within your SketchUp 8. I have SU8 on both Windows 7 and Windows 10 and I don't get such errors. What I think you can do is update javascript and internet explorer. If the error persists after the update, it could be related to the installed plugins. Do the following to determine whether the error is coming from the installed plugins. Close SU8 Go to SU plugins folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Google SketchUp 8 Temporarily rename the plugins folder to "Plugins2" Start SU8 If the error doesn't persist, this would mean that the error is plugin related and half of your problem is resolved; otherwise, the error is related to something else. If its plugin related, simply create a new plugins folder, naming it "Plugins", move all folders from "Plugins2" back to the "Plugins" folder. Then move the .rb files one-by-one move back into the "Plugins" folder. While doing so, start SU and see if the error shows up. If the error does show up, then you know that the last moved ruby file is responsible for such error. What you could do is update the plugin causing the error or move to SU2016 as the plugin may not be compatible with SU8. Anton REPLY : I just re-installed Sketchup 8. And I don't have any plugins installed....yet. Thanks for your replay and advice. garystan

In the link provided, it suggest searching for 'Materials', but that isn't the best choice... SU should have two Material folders but only makes the 'User' one when you make a new material inside SU... so it better to look for a redundent [still included] folder that has always been placed in the User path... to open it in Finder you can copy/paste into Ruby Console... `open "#{Sketchup.find_support_file('OldColors')}"` on mine that's /Users/johns_iMac/Library/Application Support/SketchUp 2016/SketchUp/OldColors In that SketchUp folder add a new folder named Materials [it will not get deleted on upgrading]... add any material sub-folders into there, they must contain skm files to work... once made drag it into the Finder sidebar for easy access [image: TKpz_mac_mats.gif] there are other gif mini tuts about add materials from inside SU... john

Is it possible you are turning them off in the View menu or you're using a style that has them turned off? Are you really still using SketchUp 7?
