Then you comp or group geometry to keep stuff separate, and assign layers to comps/groups only, to control visibility. I learned that the hard way in the beginning of my SU experience.

    DAVE: Thanks. I'm almost up to speed! These work fine with SU 2013. Originally I was just trying to get feedback on if they worked rather than do it myself in case I messed anything up. I am working on modeling chromosome ends on a sphere. I have been modeling chromosome ends on the surface of a sphere using Buckyball in SketchUp8. The sphere is rotated/orbited so that one gets different projections of the labels that approximate the distribution of chromosomes in actual cellular spreads (the various polygons are numbered for ease of identification). (I can send images of the spheres and models if youlike but I can't past them) My questions: How can I get the coordinates (2D or 3D) of the different labels (chromosomes ends) in each of the projections I notice that there is “wobble” or discrepancy between the assigned positions of the label (i.e. to specific pentagons or hexagons it was originally assigned to) and the location it appears at in the projected sphere. Is it possible to increase the fidelity or decrease the variation between the assigned and apparent location? When I export different projections (of the same sphere), i.e. those rotated to give different chromosome distributions, I get identical sets of data. The file is huge. I take it SU gives the coordinates (?) of all points in the model, and it matters not what orientation or rotation is current. Is that the right understanding? Is there a way of simplifying the data points so that only the coordinates of the labels are retained? Here are X,Y coordinates of one chromosome spread. So if your tiny edges are co-linear with another longer edge then it will merge the two into one longer edge... yes remove lonely vertex solves the problem but only when i copy the rectangular surface apart and select it individually when it is side by side with others, it doesn't work but i think i understand now the source of the problem when i zoom, i notice that the rectangular surfaces are overlapped just a little so logically, sketchup cut the edge and made 2, one almost the side of the rectangle, and the other, a very short one... I checked my original dxf file, and yes, they overlap also... so Baz was right, sometimes, draftsmen may be sloppy, especially me... thank you for helping me out [image: tsKu_overlappingsurfaces.png]

If you would get the Sketchucation Plugin Store and install it, you could automatically install LibFredo6 and other plugins correctly. I must have been installing it wrong. On the flip side, I did end up getting the Sketchucation Plugin Store. I absolutely love it! It installed it correctly for me. Thanks!

    View > Hidden Geometry ON will show all hidden objects. If it's on a Layer that is OFF you won't see it though... The Outliner will also show all instances that are on ON Layers... You can select them in the Outliner and they select in the model.
