Joint Push Pull Conflict?

Bug splat crash? Have you any of the known bad plugins installed? I've used JPP a bunch recently with no problems.
-
bad plugins... I do have a few but I had been using JPP recently with no issues. The only thing I can remember installing recently was. OpenStudio, DesignSpace, V-Ray 1.6 Height from Datum and Tag from Datum.

Vray beta is well know to mess up legit plugins... it awaits a fix, which I understand should be ready [soon]?
BUT meanwhile I recommend that you disable it using the Plugins Manager, and then only temporarily load it when you want to make a render...
It is pointless having memory-hungry renderers etc and other more frequently used modeling tools loading all of the time...
It is Vray that is crashing when its observers go bonkers - NOT JPP, which just does some legit grouping operations which Vray looks at [unnecessarily...] and then gets its knickers in such a twist there's a splat !] -
ok... If I pull outward it works fine. If I push backwards... towards the concave side. it fails. crash no splat.

It crashed for me the first time I opened it and before I could do anything to it. The second time I opened it, I was able to start JPP on it and push it inward but after hitting Enter I got a message from Windows indicating the program had stopped and it was searching for a solution. Third time was the charm. I got the attached. This third time I was pushing on a face toward the left end where the curve is tightest. The first time I pushed on a face more toward the middle.
I wonder if there is something corrupted in the model.

Thanks Dave... I think something is wrong with the geometry. I'm not getting an issue on other geometry.
I uninstalled V-Ray Tig... no effect. I've run into issues with it and Vali Architect.

The problem appears to be in some of your verticals, on several I was able to select parts of the edge and delete them without losing the face. There seems to be soft edges and hard mixed together.
Once I had removed them it worked fine.BTW you still have your profile saying SU8 but the file you put up is SU13

yeah I was trying to see if I had updated too far... Thought maybe JPP was updated to work with 13 and didn't work with 8 anymore. The face in the file I upload was actually made from JPP from an earlier face that was 3/4" inwards from this one... I wonder if once faces have been JPP'd if they should not be JPP'd again? does JPP soften some edges?

I had a quick look at your model and, as Dave, I found that some edges were overlapping and not aligned. You can see in the wireframe that JPP has got into trouble.
So it may be a source of problem and possibly crashes.Could you try with a Normal Push pull (N) to see if you get a crash too.
And, at least in the intention, JPP should work in SU8 and SU13 (and SU6, SU7).

Fredo, yes it ended up being stray edges... not a conflict or the plugin itself. thanks for looking.
