Thanks for suggestion I had totally forgot Zorro! The problem is that it seems to get me bug splat quite often. Maybe that is because my geometry is quite complex so I have examine my model a little.

Loving the discussion. @renderiza said: This is true but apart form money I think the drive to learn should be the main source of motivation. I would love to share your perspective, it is the way this should function in an ideal world. Unfortunately things aren't ideal and, as any economist will tell you human beings respond to incentives If we want to push the Sketchup envelope then streamlining the system for getting incentives to the people who make new, exciting and useful things is the most efficient way to do it. The iOS app store is a prime example.

Thanks Didier! But i have two problems using it... It also selects ALL vertical faces not only the axes oriented ones (same as the s4u_selectool). And it works not in groups/components for me. Maybe i should describe why i need it... When i use round corner i need to smooth the curve segments but i want the first edge of each rounding to stay unsmoothed to avoid shading problems when i render the model. This method works ok for me without the need of supporting edges. So the best thing would be a "Soften Edges" tool that sets the minimal smoothing angle for each edge and sets the start and end edge to unsmoothed. Maybe this could be an option of the round corner tool.

What's your "problem"? There are any number of rendering application out there that will create the appearance of shiny surfaces. Kerkythea is a popular free application, There's a number of renderers that work within SketchUp as well as those that are stand alone. Pay attention to the adverts on the Sketchucation site. You'll find some of them advertised here.

@cadfather said: if it's a visual requirement, easier in layout with shapes and clip mask. modeling wise, if you could just get the 'closed 3d boundary' of the house shape, then you have a solid which can be intersected easily with solid tools, the result then replaced with the 'original' 3d house. While that works for a lot of cases it often leaves stuff in the background I don't want to show. Sonder uses styles in the view with fog that hides the background. It seems to work really well.

TIG OK, I have it working. First I re-installed the plugins from the store. Still wasn't showing up correctly. Restarted Sketchup, a couple of time, still did not work. Than I tried what I did sometime ago with another plugin. I disable the plugin, clineaxes, closed Sketchup, saw that the plugin was in the disabled list and not in the plugin drop down menu. I than re-enable the ClineAxes, closed Sketchup and then restarted Sketchup, and presto, I have the full toolbar. Thanks TIG Ken

This a very useful tool but I think it could be better if we could see the mouse pointer, by adding this 3 lines in the code : def draw(view) @ip.draw(view) end#draw Thx

The next thing I need to do is take a handrail profile such as the image on the left which is a cross section of a handrail for level handrail. Then I want to create a sorted array of the edges used to describe the level handrail profile. - I'm thinking the outer_loop should work. Then I stretch the profile based on the slope of the handrail - just store the vertices in an array. After that I rotate the vertices the appropriate amount for the next section of handrail. Create edges that go from the first adjusted profile to the next section of profile. The catch is that these handrails may not have a consistent slope. There may be a small section of handrail that transitions from one slope to another. For instance there could be a tight radius for the inside stringer that has a steep slope and then over a couple of feet at the top of the stair the handrail levels out for level balcony handrail. This means that I have to adjust the profile for the handrail for each small section. I'm thinking of using the top center of the handrail for registration purposes. This makes sense to me as building codes talk about the height of the handrail for level rail and for stair rail. Residential codes are usually 36" for level handrail and 32" for stair rail - measured vertically up from the edge of the tread nosing. Commercial codes are usually 42" and 36" respectively. The top center is consistent regardless of the height of the rail profile. [image: 9oLz_railprofile.JPG]

Another weirdness is that if you have given your P's Plugins a custom icon, then although it might appear to have FULL permissions, Windows can have reduced your permissions slightly, this can be sufficient to limit your ability to write/manage files in the folder... Also, simply being an Admin or having SketchUp 'run as admin' is not sufficient IF Windows has limited your permissions [which is the default for new folders formed in the Programs Files tree] Your new FULL security permissions for the Plugins folder ought to filter down to apply to its contents too, as these should be set by default to take their permissions from their 'container'. However, it is worth checking this has happened too...

@box said: I don't know if it's still relevant, but I just wanted to point out that you can superdrape edges. Yes I know but with my previous try it didn't work I don't know why. @TIG : it's not of question of scale, the objects are several meters. It might be because my honey comb was not perfectly lying on a plane. I figured that later... I've done another try and it works fine. It's a good plugin, bravo !

very nice TIG: I love this stuff: I was wondering if you could take a look at separate Ruby using Voronoi Tesselation I found some code that might help but needs Ruby interpretation. http://bl.ocks.org/mbostock/4060366 Cheers!
