Invisible object but still show shadows received at this obj
-
Hi all,
I made a small aircraft in Sketchup. I render it with Vray, using a hdri map.
However, the hdri map doesn't receive the shadows, as shown below:When i place a face below it the shadows appear:
Now i want these shadows to appear at the grass of the hdri map. So basically i want the green face to be invisible, but it still has to receive the shadows of the aircraft. How to make that happen?
Please note i am a beginner in sketchup and vray, like i haven't used it for years.... This is my first little project after a longgg break.

Perhaps doing this in photoshop would be better, or add an actual grass face for the ground (see Skatter). The shadow will remain flat and look like its sitting on top of the grass from the HDRI image.

1- place your plane on a white surfice
2- take render, save both render and alpha channel images (so you can keep transparent materials)
3- use both images together in photoshop(you can find how on youtube)
4- place any photo under your images grass field street anything you want.
So you will have shadow, you will be able to see the background trough transparent materials, it will look more realistic.
It's my solution, hope it works for you -
If you want to to this all in render, you need a sinmple plane as a base and you have to apply a Wrapper material to it.
Search youtube for a tutorial, you'll find plenty
