Ta folks, it is the ai thing.

My design, mea culpa. Similar in concept to the hotrod I did some yonks ago but oriented towards track days.

Working on a studio setup for Rayscaper so hopefully some renders then.

to the artist formerly known as Martin who now goes by the symbol ۩

Man- that looks very clean, and I would agree with Chris - the backdrop is great.. I really liked your vehicle - very original and the detail level is plausible. Very nice. I hope to see many more renders with K from you, as it looks like you have this under control!

Actually is it possible to render 2 point perspective as such. Also is it possible to render elevations. I know it is not possible to render SU section.

Yeah, I'm keeping an eye on Indigo, updates look promising. I might be getting an old Dell Precision Workstation 530 MT that I'll use as a spare machine to solely do renders.

It only has one Xeon CPU (1.7 GHz) ATM, space for another, however I think it'll be quite difficult to source a CPU to fill the second ATM, not to mention some RDRAM (Rambus rimms) as it only has 512MB.

    Bruce,

Cool - different and interesting. I like the display that you have chosen. This looks very much like a Corel/Illustrator vector drawing. Could you post another view so we can appreciate the 3D?

That magazine make it in the mail yet? 😄

    Thanks Shaun.
This particular model is an oldie I have been tarting up to put on my website.
The job has actually been built.
It was an interesting job...the Clients were newly arrived Vietnamese with virtually no English.
We communicated via translators [a different one every time] pointing at pictures and body gestures, nods and head shakes. In the end it was win/win all round. 😆

BTW if any Mods want to move this thread to the Gallery, please do.

Thank you very much for your comments.

Here is an image of the main stair rendered in Kerkythea 2007 and of course modelled with SU5 pro.

Ironic that I used to teach advanced Pro-E classes and didn't even think to start out with a skeleton model. Thanks monsterzero for your post and link to your website with great video showing "how to".

I should add this to my very simple robot - the skeleton will make moving it into position - and back - much, much easier.

Very nice models Rodentpete and monsterzero - I'm not in the same league but still having lots of fun.

Yeah, segmented geometry (however "simple" it may look) can really trick you. Just a couple of extrusions here and intersections there and you end up with a file size of a town... 😲

    Chef Ramzy,

    Jack bird bring it.

I'm so into this, I am smoking with both hands in an attempt to stop from working my main controller -- something I broke once when I was hitting a "tree knot" -- that being when I was young and didn't know better.

Either way, I want to party on this, or put it on tour with the Red Haired Blonds.

    Right on.

    Thank you.

You know you've had too much cold medicine when you can't recognize your own style. 😳 😒 It's Old Paper Darker Lines from this thread. Sorry about that.

I wish there was some way to boost the contrast right in SketchUp. If there is, I haven't found it.

nicely done It's amazing what a simple program an a clear idea can create. I agree on the trans-peeps having the steps alter thier color halfway down is distracting. Try moving them all the way to the top of the steps.

Didier's script isn't supporting textures at this time. Hopefully it will someday. (SunFlow does but as noted above Didier's efforts in his plugin development are hindered by a lack of documentation on SunFlow). I don't know if there are any other routes to getting a textured model into SunFlow. I haven't looked around the SunFlow site or Forum enough to find out.

If your model has colours they will work fine. I attach an example render. The model is from the FormFont Exchange. After exporting from SketchUp I edited the scene file so the glass and hydraulic rams would look shiny.

    http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/sas/Gallery/ross/sunflow5.jpg

The render times for the above image was about 15 minutes. The 'clay' ones above were just two or three minutes. Adding the HDR lighting & then the glossy effect added more time. The glossy one probably took 20 minutes.

If you visit the gallery at the SunFlow site you'll see the program is quite capable. Hopefully Didier's script can, in due course, develop to take more advantage of it.

    Regards, Ross
