@Box explains it all. However, the menu link he gave is for a PC, on a MAC use: SketchUp > Preferences > Extensions > Install Extension... Or as he said, get/install the SketchUcation Toolset, and use its ExtensionStore³ dialog to auto-install your future Extensions...

If you've already drawn it in SketchUp, you have created a model. You can save it and copy the SKP file to a USB stick to transport it to his computer or you can probably just e-mail the file as long as it isn't larger than your e-mail service will allow. As for letting him orbit, zoom and so on, he can install SketchUp and then open the file. Or, there's the SketchUp Viewer available for download here for PC and Mac and the Mobile Viewer which would let him look at it on an iOS or Android device. If you give him the SKP file, there's nothing to stop him installing SketchUp and then modifying the file. What is the ultimate use for the plan you've created?

Yes. That feature was added to the second maintenance release of SU8 so it's no wonder you don't have it. Time to catch up with the times.

Sure i use the direction keys to lock inferences on x,y,z axis all the time. But this black line just seems to lock by itself and i have to select another tool and then select line again to get rid of it. Annoying

If i leave the precision at 0,0000 and snap at 0,1 and set the units to mm, I get the unwanted snapping! Setting the units to meter, keeping 0,0000 and snap at 0,1 it "works"... To summarize: Precision:0.01 Snap:0.1 Draw 2 // lines L1=1.00”units” and L2=0.98”units” along the x-axis Draw L3 from end of line L1 straight up along z-axis With m (meter) units all is OK! With mm (millimeter) units it screw it up!!!!! So that is why I set units to meters, export to .obj, import into slicing software for 3D printing. If somebody can explain this behavior? Because I still have other artifacts while merging different groups and “outer shell” them or do intersections, flat faces get “distorted” !!! [image: 6jAu_CC37.jpg] [image: fPCy_CC38.jpg]

I like the explanations everyone has give here. I have never used 2-point perspective so thought this was very informative. Maybe a little off topic but I like to use the parallel view when aligning things (at least for the type of models I do) but then I switch to perspective mode when doing everything else. I just find it a little easier (for me) to do the alignments in parallel especially when I have components with subcomponents.

I was more advanced years ago, but photomatch is a feature I've never needed to use. Found the trick tho. Have to uncheck the foreground photo. Thanks again Dave. Much appreciated.

Where did you find these tutorials that show rotating the image in the Get Location window? How about uploading an SKP file that shows the terrain turned as you describe. Are you sure you aren't just looking at it from 45°?

Word of warning on the Crai Depot... It's a valuable repository of plugins, but many are out of date and newer/compatible versions are now available elsewhere... Especially if you have >=v2015... So check for the newest versions of the desired plugin, on any of the sites I have just listed. If there isn't one, then try using the Depot's version... However, if you get problems when SketchUp restarts, then you might need to remove the file[s] you've just installed... and seek compatible versions elsewhere...

I've solved the problem now. It was caused by the fact that the label area is not a perfect rectangle (it has a curve at the top) and the image I am using for the texture is rectangular. When importing the image for the texture, I was trying to place it by clicking on the bottom right corner of the label area and dragging up to the top right corner. But, because of the curve at the top, the top right corner is off the model so the image wasn't sticking. Instead I just click in the middle of the area to place the texture and then right-click > texture > position.

@garystan said: Hi everybody : I've been working on a Log Cabin project. And due to the way my Computer System is acting, I'd like to delete this project, and start over. The other Log Cabin projects show up in My Pictures folder (where I temporarily store them until I put the "final product" on disk). But, the latest one is only showing up in the listing when I open Sketchup. When I click FILE >OPEN. The files labeled "Log Cabin Dining Room 2", "Log Cabin Dining Room 3", etc. These show up in the listing after clicking on FILE > OPEN. I can open them. But I can't find them in my System. I'm not sure where to look. garystan Update : Sorry about the confusion. I accidentally SAVED them on an external Hard Drive I used for Google Data (objects that I created). I'm hot sure HOW they got stored there. I usually SAVE them on Drive C......MY PICTURES folder. garystan

@wolli said: .... Does anyone know, how this rotation is determined? As Dave says, this is a known feature. The sectional rotation that you see is determined by the rotation of subsequent planes determined by pairs of path segments as you go along the path. Hence no rotation when all path segments are in the same plane.
