OK, I see. I thought I was missing something (obviously there are 2D "top view" trees, too) since TIG generally doesn't say... Ehm... Whatever...

And it slows the model down quickly if you star making circles that detailed. This is not a SU problem, but something that many 3d modelers do the same way. You'll find that even 3dmax and Maya work the same way. Chris

That script would've helped me certainly. Rather, I ended up deleting all my layers and organising objects in groups using the Outliner which is what I should have done in the first place. Basically, what I have learnt: If you are dealing with a large model with a lot of components use the Outliner! (I think that's worthy advice, even if I am a first poster here.) Also, the good people of SketchUcation are a helpful bunch - thanks for the help all . Ryork

Howdy back at ya Devin. Sometimes you can find fairly decent tutorials at google 3D warehouse. (Just type in tutorial as one of the key words in the search there.) http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/ Sometimes you gotta dig around to find the gold nuggets.

Tried to look up "clamped" but the definitions are subject to its use in a API, so as I understand it, SU's textures repeat, but can be positioned, scaled, pinned, and stretched, in a manner that result in being clamped so that they appear not to repeat. I think !-) [image: jFQ7_temp.JPG]

Hi Salman, Note that dwg imports will always "lose" those annotation like details you add in the CAD applications. You cannot help so rather get used to it and plan your job accordingly. As for 3D entourage - now that can be the killer for SketchUp. Be very careful with it and always add these details on separate layers which you can then "turn off" and only display when you need a render (2d presentational output or export etc.)

@unknownuser said: @rudbeckia said: just curious though if i need to use it again, it is normal to make the program crash alot it seems pretty stable to me on my computer.. it didn't crash when i used it on the file you posted (and what's happening when JPPing one of those elevations is basically like trying to push/pull 500 separate faces at once).. i use it with confidence but anytime i'm about to save myself 20+ minutes worth of manual drawing by doing it in one click via a ruby, i'll make sure to save the file first. thanks for the info!!

Well, to a degree that worked then I got lost again. I want to have different "scenes", in this case elevations, plan and sections of a small "test model" house. I dropped them into LO and was creating a "test set" of working drawings. I did successfully "update" the drawings. Then, I wanted to get the section cut lines out of one of the scenes, so, in SU I went to menu, view, section cuts/planes, unchecked them to see that view...and I lost my section cuts. I went back a couple of steps and tried the next option... I went into "scenes" and tried to see if there was something to check off within the menu there...I checked off activate section planes and permanently lost "Section A" even rechecked it, did an update... What do I need to do to have a model with sections and views without all the section cuts obscuring the model? And with the ability to go back to that "scene" and see it as it was saved or updated? Do I need to or can I "lock" it? I get these glimmers of hope and then it all crashes down again... thanks aloha red p.s. included the examples of what I am working on.
