Another Newb...Still Learning

Hello, I'm Eric...I'm going to college for Architectural Drafting and our teacher wanted us to dabble a little in Sketchup...well now the year is over and i want to get more in depth.
Now that I'm back on my own computer 24/7 I figure i should start to ask a few questions...My hatches don't work in Sketchup...I have the Basic (Expired Pro) Version...I'm not exactly sure if it would be my graphics card or what's going on (I still haven't read the system requirements just yet). The program worked fine in my shop...and that was the free version. But to explain in greater detail...Here's a picture...
Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

That looks like you might just need to update your graphics card drivers. Find out what kind of card you have and go to the makers website and look for driver downloads. Its common, so the links are normally pretty easy to find. Download and install the new drivers and see if that fixes it,
