    • RE: Select all geometries within a nested group

      That script would've helped me certainly. Rather, I ended up deleting all my layers and organising objects in groups using the Outliner which is what I should have done in the first place.

      Basically, what I have learnt: If you are dealing with a large model with a lot of components use the Outliner! (I think that's worthy advice, even if I am a first poster here.)

      Also, the good people of SketchUcation are a helpful bunch - thanks for the help all ๐Ÿ‘ .

      -> window -> outliner

      does that help?

      I have attempted to solve the problem with Outliner but there is no way to select all the many subgroups of the main group in order to efficiently change the entire groups geometries to a specific layer. Rather, it requires the tedious clicking and assigning of each of the individual subgroups (including the subgroups of the subgroups etc!).

      To be honest, the main issue here is my treatment of layers and groups. My model is very complex with 1000s of entities and I have been controlling it mainly with layers. I see now that I should have been using the Outliner tool in order to control my model.

      I wish Google would have promoted the Outliner a little more, it would've saved me the shed-load of reorganising work I have ahead of me.

      Thanks for the help,

      Thanks for the reply!

      Within one group I have several sub-groups. Unfortunately, some of these groups have ended up being associated with different layers whilst I want them associated with one. So, I want to be able to select the top-tree group and switch all the layers' of the sub-groups to a layer that I specify.

    • Select all geometries within a nested group

      Hey there,

      My question is, is it possible to select all geometries within a nested set of groups and if so how do I do this? i.e. I want to be able to click on the top most group, and select all geometries within that group and its subgroups (of infinite levels). I was thinking that there must be a ruby script for something like this, but my searches have come up with nothing. Nothing! I would be incredibly grateful it someone could help me out with this one.

      Thanks in advance,
