Yes, what kind of macintosh do you have? I noticed that Sketchup will run just fine on my 20" aluminum imac, but very slowly and poorly on my 13" white plastic macbook. I know it can be very sensitive to the macbook graphics. -=Identity 4=-

Sorry people ! Thanks for pointing out my mistakes. I'll take more attention to my posts in the future. Second try: [image: beeld%20Kraan%20Grohe%20%20-%20Sketchup.jpg] [image: temp_bmlt.jpg] [image: zolder%20Schuifelaar%20take%201-2.jpg] @Gaeius: that's the second beer I owe you The renders are almost always done with MLT (I like that one a lot. Only pity it usually takes so long to render) Concerning the grainy apearance: I don't mind that it's a bit blurry. It's a great way to cover up little modeling mistakes ... I made for my colleague (it's her future bathroom you 've seen in the first renders) also a quick animation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfOWnMhpVYg Greetz Flapsyd

Wow, just what I like. Precise answers. You guys are great. Thank you so much. Ok, I think I get it now. Sometimes, understanding computer/graphics and all the apps tools take a lot of time. Especially in this day and age when I have NONE. Thats what I like about this forum. Once again, you saved the day. Thanks again fitZ

Best is to send me an email from the link at the top right (we cannot make it more apparent ). I start my every day with those emails arriving from there. It's exactly for these issues. [image: tCrA_Help.jpg]

Hi Rashad, First of all, specify your favourite image editor in your preferences window (Window menu on a PC) see below - I use Gimp to fine tune my images [image: nT6s_Application.jpg] Then when you want to edit an image used as texture on a face, right click > Texture > Edit texture image. This will open the image in your editor where you can resample and compress it to your needs and upon saving, SU will instantly refresh the texture while keeping its UV coordinates. Really handy tool introduced in SU 7. Note however that the Texture menu item in the context menu is only available if you right click on a single face - i.e. not on curved surfaces or groups/components. Scaling components (or anything) bearing textures will not affect the file size. The model infor > Statistics > Purge will purge everything "purgeable" i.e. (unused) components, materials, layers, styles (each of which can be purged from the respective dialogs/browsers individually, too). At the moment, you can only do this by right clicking a component (either in the model or in the Component browser) and "Save as..." It will save it as a separate skp file (which it is actually, only embedded into your model) and in your Explorer window you can see the file size. A good method therefore is to download the different components from the Warehouse in your internet browser, check their effective modelling (file size, polygon count etc.) and only then import them into your model. It would be cool to see the file size in the component browser especially bnow as the online Warehouse is so tightly integrated - hopefully once it will be implemented. I think that's it for now.

Game modding (like he mentioned for GTA) is very legal, and has been a way for people to extend their favorite games. The tools needed to modify or "mod" games are generally published by the game making company. And many games, at least for the PC, can be modded. I've personally playedd with modding Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield2. And I've dabbled with Half Life, Crysis, and the unreal engine. I've also used Virtools by D'assault systemes, which is a physics engine, and you have to do the programming yourself. I would HIGHLY recommend using an existing game and mod it, especially if you are wanting to make a first person shooter, or any other style game thay already exists. With most of the games, the process would be: Play the game and become familiar with it. Start playing with the map editor, learn how to make entire maps from scratch. Learn how to import buildings that you have made in SketchUp. This can be a difficult process in some game engines, requiring that you export from SketchUp to 3dsmax or Maya. Then beyond that, learn how to make weapones. And then characters and rig, skin and animate them. etc. Its pretty fun to see a building or object you made in SU show up inside one of your favorite games. Chris

This is probably the clipping effect. Read more at the above link and see if any of the circumstances are valid for your model and any of the fixes help. Sometimes (especially with imported geometry) exploding then regrouping things can also help.

Hello, Sorry for not being clear with our question. We work with a mac so our materials manager doesn't look like the one in windows. Here are a couple pictures that I hope will clarify what we are trying to do. [image: dZW1_Picture2.png] [image: 2xT1_Picture3.png] [image: UeJA_Picture4.png] Thanks, TeamSDA
