      Hello...

I'm a new SketchUp user and have been having an issue with my 3D renderings. I hope maybe someone could troubleshoot my issue, as it has been giving me a headache for the past day.

I have selected an item to place flush into another item. I can align it perfectly to sit into the other item, but removing it from inside the item is my problem. How can I select it without moving the item it has been placed in? I try to select the item but it attaches itself to the surfaces of the other item. I've watched the tutorials and haven't been able to figure this one out still.

Any words of advice would be helpful, even other video tutorial sites. Thanks!

Hi Mathmos, I made a quick video that shows how you could do it. I think the problem is that loose geometry in SketchUp likes to merge into other geometry. So keep geometry separate by making things into components and groups, as shown in the video.

EDIT: I changed the video - the first one did not quite answer what I think the question is.
