Like said, these kind of works are often a composite of a render and postpro in photoshop (or similar app). In this case, there are topics on Thea Render forum and here in sketchucation that do explain the process in some degree. From the topic at Thea Render forum you can even find some pure test renders, so you can get a idea about how much postpro work is done. Btw the birch tree model is downloadable to registred users of Thea Render.

hi tig, ok, you are right, puts does it automatically. the declaration of the variables happens in the beginning of the ruby, first loaded from the default file and then possibly changed by the user... these settings then create the geometry and are saved to a separate file (later as function : reload last user parameters). will just try the puts-version. stan EDIT: IT WORKS parameters are saved at the end of ruby and automatically reloaded on start wonderful!

Well... the context-menu 'intersect' often works on selected edges/faces ? If that fails try to over-draw on the problem edges - that can jolt them into intersecting. Or try grouping everything and exploding it, which also helps re-intersect sometimes... Sometimes awkward geometry needs the faces to be subdivide using diagonals to triangulate that face and force other edges to intersect properly, once the face is divided the unwanted extra dividing lines can be erased... Because your form is symmetrical why not divide it in half and erase the least correct part? THEN fix the remainder... then copy that to one side and use Flip or Scale -1 on it to Flip it, then move the parts together and erase any unneeded central lines...

Hi Nigel, I'm importing my Sketchup files into C4D. I was hoping this plugin would streamline my workflow saving the time it takes to save in dae. and perhaps even help to overcome texture problems.

I've also noticed this problem and find it a bit frustrating. I like to use Scene Tabs at the earlier stages in my project (when the number of scenes I've got fit nicely across the top of my screen (I work on a laptop). At a later stage in my project I've got too many scenes to fit across the top of my screen nicely (I do an interior view of every room as well as the usual plans, sections and elevations), so I'd rather use the Scenes Manager and switch off the (by now messy) scene tabs. It would be nice if this setting could be saved with the file, but, as we've seen, they come back every time the file is opened again. Not the end of the world, but maybe could be 'fixed' in a future update. Thanks for the shortcut key suggestion. Good workaround.

Beginners often miss the basics of the program. To move the endpoint of a line you must use the move tool not the select tool. With nothing else selected click on the endpoint of the line with the move tool and you can move it anywhere. You can type a distance, or a set of co-ordinates or simple drag it to where you want. The trick is not to preselect or you will be trying to move the whole line.

George, if you were manually trying to create a proper perspective view by tracing over a photo that was distorted, you would have the same problem that Photo Match has. Fortunately in SketchUp, you can apply the image as a material after you've drawn the shape correctly and then distort it to fit. A friend sent me an image yesterday. He wants to use it for Photo Match but it doesn't work very well. Here's the result of projecting the image as a material after I set up the best fit I could get. [image: nL72_TansuforKenbefore.png] After tweaking the projected texture, it looks better. Still not perfect but at least it's closer. [image: RW48_TansuforKenafter.png] You have to untick 'Fixed pins' in the Texture context menu to stretch out the material.

Dave, a nice example that there are many ways to achieve a goal in SketchUp and the first thought might not always be the simplest

When a tool throws an error and it tells you it needs Lib-1.2.3, it sets that as the minimum requirement, so Lib-1.1.1 will not do, BUT the the only available version is newer, like Lib-1.2.8, then it should still work It'd be better if it were to say it needs 'Lib-1.2.3 or higher'... So don't worry too much about that side of thing...

I believe it belongs in the LibFredo6 folder not in Plugins. Try moving it there and see if you still get the error message.
