Realtive Positioning

Hi

Is there any way to position the cursor to start to draw something relative from something. For example I want to draw a rectangle exactly x100 y100 from the previous rectangle top right corner

You could place a guide point at a relative location and start the Rectangle tool there. Get the Yellow Tape measure tool and click on the top right corner. Drag out in the general direction. Type <100,100,0> and hit Enter. Next, get the Rectangle tool, click on the resulting guide point and go on from there.

Thank you for the replies.
Is there an easy way to do similar thing with specify the angle and the distance?

Little bit offtopic but is there a way to pick up one end of the line then move only one end in different position even relatively specified from the original position?
sorry for the very newbie question I watched all tutorial videos for newbie and I didnt see anything similar. Looks like sketchup developers stopped with the grab and pull out in 3d idea and didn't do the basics of any design or cad program has.

I don't believe you can enter an angle in degrees.

If you click on the end of a line you can move the end to a coordinate located point using <,x,y,z> for a point relative to the starting point or [x,y,z] to move it to an absolute location.

Keep in mind that SketchUp was designed as a sketching application, not a CAD program. It is extremely capable anyway. Make sure you learn how to use it properly. This may involve unlearning some of your CAD training.

Beginners often miss the basics of the program.

To move the endpoint of a line you must use the move tool not the select tool.
With nothing else selected click on the endpoint of the line with the move tool and you can move it anywhere. You can type a distance, or a set of co-ordinates or simple drag it to where you want. The trick is not to preselect or you will be trying to move the whole line.
