You'll have to redraw the path and add more segments. If the path is being drawn with the Arc tool, you can change the number of segments before you start drawing it. If you are drawing that path some other way, you'll have to use a different method to set the number of segments. As for the vertices, you can that your curved path is made up of a series of line segments. Where they meet there's a vertex. This is a place where you extrusion changes direction so the profile won't be exactly the same size as the rest of the rail. Think about in reality, take a rod and cut an angled end for a miter. The face will be larger than if you cut square across. If you've drawn the rail so it is the same diameter as the hole in the bracket, the rail will be slightly wider at the vertices. It is entirely possible to make your model with high precision but you might want to consider the application for the model. If the audience for whom you are making this drawing is only going to look at the overall bar, these little details you're working on won't show. Maybe there's not much point in spending a lot of time on this foot rail. Will what you've drawn convey the needed information? Ifso, move on to some other part of the drawing. The bracket is probably going to be an off-the-shelf thing and the rail will be stock to fit. Unless you need a manufacturing drawing for the bracket and the rail, you might want to say it's close enough.

Try clearing the cache of internet explorer and make sure you have the most up to date version and that it isn't blocked. It doesn't matter what browser you use normally, SU uses IE to access the internet.

I have a copy of Draftsight and use it on occasion along with AutoCAD. Very similar feel and functions. I can transfer .dwg drawing files both ways and have not found any significant degradation in data. I have found it very useful if someone sends me an Acad file saved in a newer version than mine. What my Acad will not open, Draftsight will. To answer Ands43 I agree with JGA, from experience that you can import and re-use your title blocks from Acad. There is another free 2D program, DoubleCad XT5 which is a product from IMSI. It has two big brothers, TurboCAD LTE 6 and TurboCAD LTE Pro 6 which have a low cost, but function very much like Acad LT. DC has a builtin opening screen with many size drawing templates. Both work well with Sketchup

It's hard to tell if that's the right solution since we still can't see your image but if you're happy with it, that's cool.

En fait non, cela ne marche pas! Quand on replace les volumes obtenus sur la courbe de départ il y a des écarts! Désolé! Il va donc falloir modifier le fichier smustard_PathCopy.rb de Smustard! [image: CYqC_div2.jpg]

@dave r said: Try selecting all the geometry and run Intersect Faces>With Model. I have already tried to do intersect Faces>With Selection – but a message "No intersection found between selection and the rest of the model" appeared Only after I posted my problem here in this thread and tried again I realized that the dish like shapes where not selected even I drew a huge selection box over everything which made me think they would be selected but in fact they were not, now I’ve selected each of them individually then it worked

@box said: @keithwins said: AH! If the toolbar dialog is open, it works like you said. If it's closed (which I'd done, since it didn't seem to buy me anything) it works like I said. So I can move tools around without ever opening the toolbar dialog using Alt. Thanks for sticking with me! Out of the mouths of babes and all that, you've stumbled across a handy feature there. Being able to move tools around from bar to bar without opening the toolbar dialog is something I would never have guessed at. +1.......have to try and remember this........and what's in a name... Upload model to dropbox or box.com and share a link please. See if we can help you out before your deadline. Any "complex" model slows down when shaded. If it's unreasonably slow then you'll have to do something about it. I almost always navigate a complex model in monochrome mode. It's because SU is a total arse and doesn't like anything "complex". How dare you model anything more than a cube?! Upload model and I'll have a look.

You might want to check with the suppliers of Mazaik and see if they've issued an updated version of the plugin. SU2014 uses Ruby 2.0 while SU8 used an older and now unsupported version of Ruby. This required many plugins to be updated to meet the newer Ruby standards. There have been many folks reporting errors on plugins they've copied over from an older version of SketchUp and the standard advice which has been repeated on SCF ad nauseum is to not copy plugins but download fresh versions.

@kellenraid said: .......But on one edge, there are these triangles; though small, they kinda ruin the smooth edge. .......Is there a fix for this? ..... Temporarily make hidden geometry (all the edges) visible. Did you try to smooth the triangle's edges by sweeping the 'Eraser' tool over its edges while holding down [Ctrl] This will smooth the triangle's edges and will make one large smooth surface.
