3dsky is a copy of Russian speaking site 3ddd.ru. You could post your requests on dedicated sub-forum (the last one) after registration. Post in English optionally add google translated variant. But there's a good chance the model you're searching already exists.
PS Why don't you try firerr though?

Thanks again rv1974. I didn't try fivver, I never used that website but last week I browsed trying to find a section dedicated to 3-D, and didn't find any. But after reading your post I tried again, and didn't find a specific section but found several persons offering 3-D modeling services. I'll check some of these.

Thanks again. I've been using Sketchup for years, but as you can see I'm completely out of the loop about what's possible nowadays.

Thanks rv1974. I registered yesterday after seeing your post, and I'm trying to learn how to use the website, but are you sure it has a 3D requests section? I can see tons of 3D models, but as far as I can understand they're in 3Dmax format, not sure how I'd be able to use them with Sketchup.

Thanks pilou. I didn't know that software, I'll try it, it seems quite interesting.

But I'd still love to know if there's any website similar to what I described. Sometimes friends ask me to redecorate their houses/rooms, and they ask me to model specific objects.

Or maybe most (all?) 3-D designers model all their 3-D models from scratch when they want or need something specific?

    • 3D models requests website/forum?

      Hi everyone,

Not sure if this is the best place to ask (please move the thread if it isn't), but I'd like to know if there's a forum or website similar to Fivver focused in 3-D modeling. Or if there isn't a specific website, a place that has a section fully dedicated to 3-D modeling requests.

I'm just a hobbyist, but once in a while I'm asked to design a room and I need to make some specific objects, for example a sofa, a massage chair, or something of that kind, and I wouldn't mind paying a few bucks to someone for that task. My hand dexterity is very low (health problems), and I can model a cabinet or something similar relatively easy, but organic modeling, with lots of curves, is much harder for me.

I'm not a professional, so I wouldn't expect perfection, and I actually never used Fivver or anything similar so I'm not really sure how it works, but as I wrote above it'd be very nice if I could give this type of work on someone that probably would do this type of thing 10x faster than me.

Thanks in advance for all comments and suggestions.

    • Converting from other formats

      Hi everyone,

I've been using Sketchup for years, mostly building my own models, and occasionally grabbing a few from 3dwarehouse, but I saw a seemingly nice 3D model that I'd like to buy and use in Sketchup. However, it isn't available in .SKP format, only in .3ds .fbx .max .obj.

      It's this model...
      https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models/furniture/sofa/cineak-strato-seating-for-media-living-room
      https://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/sofa-cineak-strato-seating-3d-model-1172244

Can someone please enlighten me regarding if there's an easy way to convert any of those formats to .skp? And if so, which of those formats is more suitable?

Sorry for such a basic question.
Thanks in advance for your time and suggestions.

    • RE: V-Ray 3.0

I'm confused about Chaosgroup resellers policy, is it absolutely necessary to buy their software based on geographic location? Why such a strange system, in 2017, instead of simply buying directly to Chaosgroup?

I mailed my country's reseller with several questions, but no reply.

    • RE: V-Ray 3 for SketchUp released

      @konstantin_chaos said:

V-Ray 3 can use CPU or GPU depending on the rendering mode selected but not both at the same time (there is no hybrid functionality).

Which is faster? In other words, considering current CPU and GPU prices, is it more beneficial to have a faster CPU, or a faster GPU?

Regarding the license, could someone please clarify exactly what this means?Purchase includes one workstation(GUI) license and one render node license.

Is it possible to buy one license, using it on a PC for several months, and later start using another PC, with the same license? I have a fairly old PC, and I'm hoping to buy a new one later this year, I'm wondering if I could start using V-Ray on the old one, and transfer the license to the new machine in 6 or 12 months.

    • I7-6700 and Sketchup

      Hi everyone.

I’m a long time Sketchup user, using it mostly to make small projects, and my 6 years old PC has served me well, but I want to start rendering more, or at least try to, and my Core 2 Duo 8400 and4GB RAMare rather slow for this purpose, so I’m thinking it may be necessary to buy a new PC. My current PC is also quite noisy, so it’d also be a good opportunity to get a much quieter configuration.

I’ve been reading this forum and several hardware oriented sites to get familiarized with the latest CPU and GPU developments, and the Intel i7-6700 seems a good choice regarding the CPU. But GPU wise, it seems all brands are waiting till the end of the year to finally launch their new architectures, when 14nm becomes feasible.

This made me think that maybe a viable option could be to buy a i7-6700 system now, using its integrated graphics for now – it’s the HD Graphics 530- and only buy a powerful graphics card later down the road.

      The big question is...
...would the i7-6700 CPU's integrated graphics be enough to a minimally decent Sketchup viewport performance?
My models are usually quite small, between 20 and 40MB.

It seems that in the next few years most if not all the main renderers will take advantage of GPU’s, but at the moment I’m still using Vray 1.49, which only uses the CPU. In the near future I want to try other renderers and eventually stick with another one, but they're not exactly cheap, it's an important decision, and it’d be great if I could avoid having to buy a graphics card for now, and only invest in it when the new GPU architectures arrive and I’m more proficient with rendering, to take advantage of it.

Thanks for reading. I'd appreciate all comments and suggestions.

That solved it indeed, Thank you very much. First time I had this problem, from now on I'll be aware of this. Thanks again.

    • Reflection without texture

Hi everyone. I’m having a problem rendering reflections, sometimes instead of reflecting the texture I’m using, there’s a white area in its place. I’ll put an example below. As you cam see on the left of the image, instead of reflecting the wood texture, it shows a white area.

I’m not sure if it’s a bug, or just a basic mistake I’m making somewhere.
If it’s a bug, I’m still using Vray 1.49, hopefully by the end of the year I can jump to 2.0, but it’d be nice to have a workaround for this in the meantime.

I’d appreciate if someone can say if this is supposed to occur.
Thanks in advance for all suggestions.
