When U try to download certain plugins, I get the message "no internet connection found" Also, when I try to sign in to google to use the 3D warehouse, I get the same message. My internet works for everything else. Do I have a setting wrong?

May I ask you where do you try to download those plugins from?

From within sketchup. Usually the extension warehouse. Also, at the bottom of the screen where the icons are located to sign in to google to access the 3D warehouse.

Are you connected to the internet from behind a proxy or firewall? (Usually corporate networks are connected that way.)

This is a personal computer. I am not terribly familiar with windows firewall but I did check to see if sketch up was being blocked and it did not appear to be so. I really have not changed anything that I know of. I first noticed this when I upgraded to 2014.

Well, if you're sure that no firewall or any other network device restricts your access to the internet then it should work.

Anybody else having the same problem?

Maybe you should try to write to SketchUp support they might have some ideas about the cause.

Try clearing the cache of internet explorer and make sure you have the most up to date version and that it isn't blocked. It doesn't matter what browser you use normally, SU uses IE to access the internet.
