Ah-ha! Thanks so much guys, that's fantastic. It's funny how I get stuck on things for hours and then see what I was doing wrong and the same thing takes seconds to do. Nice one

I've also had this happen frequently. It may be due to the dividing line not being completely closed. Try drawing lines from the dividing edge to the outer edge, to hone in on where the gap is. If the above suggestion from myself or others do not work, I've also found that it's sometimes due to distance of the model from the origin or if the model is too small, messing with Sketchup's calculations. Try moving it back to the origin (changing axis location does not move the origin) or scaling the model up by 1000 (and back down after you're done working on it, if needed).

Yes, I am familiar with these techniques and have used them in a different way. I used The "Dennis Technique" when trying to create a watercolor looking type look. The Technique combines different exported styles (shadows, no shadows, color only, lines only, etc. Then using a photo editing software merging them and exposing underlying layers by erasing the center till the achieved look is gained. Thank you guys! I ended up going the Shape Bender route. I'm going to mess around with Curvishear just to see how that works as well.

But rest assured that this might have nothing to do with the "Dynamics of the component" glued components (and also groups) are created automatically if you draw a closed shape on a surface, without intersecting it's borders and group it or make a component out of it. If you take a moment to look at the component parameters of the "Make Component..." table you'll see it is auto defined as "Glue to Any face"

@jim said: I didn't bother with the "bottom only" option, but this should work…. Hope this helps. Awesome!! Thanks!!!!! DC's are little more involved than what I can handle at this time. I am trying to get my component collection so I can spend more time designing and less time in "busy stuff". Doors, and Millwork are my next try…

@woodtechie said: Hello. Can anyone point out why I can't push/pull the highlighted face here? The reason has been explained. You can also try to use push/pull while holding "ctrl" down in these cases.

It seems you are drawing on geometry that is on a hidden layer and in the same (editing/drawing) context. If the geometry were grouped and not in the current drawing context, then you wouldn't get this message. SketchUp separates geometry when grouping it, not like in other programs by different layers. You may also see a similar warning when drawing over geometry that is hidden but still in the same context, not separated by a group.

@fabienm said: Hi pbacot, thanks for you help, it's interest to deform the text, but i'searching more a solution with projection and intersection with faces, or maybe the possibility to join 2 faces of the same object ( identical numbers of lines... ) in two different sizes and orientations, and after intersect this new volume with the faces. @ Dave R : I don't known what is ThomThom ? Edit : Ok, it's a developper but i don't find some plugin to divert. Edit : Another way is to extrude longer the text, go inside and select the front side and rescale, like this the text is extrude in pyramid. I think that's what I said. You can also just change one dimension in scaling. If you have a 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 3' box, you can pull to scale in the 3' direction and write 8', for example, leaving the other dimensions where they were.
