I've done some searching, both on Google & sketchUcation, but have not been able to find what I'm looking for ... Dimensions (Width/Height/Depth) of Irregular Surface or Object

Let's take 3D text for example that someone created (and presuming there's at least on capital letter)... I'd like to know the "Height" of the text so that I could easily create more text that matches the existing text.

Let's say I have a gear for example that I want to ship... it would be very handy to select the gear (presuming it's aligned correctly to the default axis) and say "dimension" and have the Dimensions (Width/Height/Depth) of the gear.

With all of the extremely powerful extensions I've seen, I'm hoping this would be a relatively easy thing to do.

      Thanks in advance!

You can use Jim's Get Dimensions
        http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=jf_get_dimensions
it gives you the bounding box dimensions.
