After 3 years HeadsUp UV layout still the best way for me to texture some geometries even though some times I have problems exporting and importing uvs not to menthion that I can't save the unwrapping/texturing for another day. does any one have similiar problem? I have noticed in the last catchup ed19 that mr Obrien is also using Blender and reality paint. Whats the best method for you to unwrap geometry for texturing this days? Thx for any comment.

Yup, Im having this problem, and best I can figure, my Groups and Components are good, its just going back to Main layer, seems to reset visible layers in all other scenes automatically, I would love to hear what the solution was. Thanks

There are several tools to draw cpoints [aka guide-points] - including Rich's excellent PenTools. http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=Pen_Tools and http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=tt_guide_tools This simple snippet pasted into the Ruby Console adds a cpoint at all selected component-instances' insertion points. Naturally, you'll need to have Guides set to be visible to see these cpoints... I've looked up z fighting and see that it is caused by 2 surfaces occupying the same plain. So, in my case, the answer was to delete the google map since I was finished with it anyway. For those having trouble deleting the google map, you have to unlock it first (right-click > unlock) then erase it (right-click > erase).

I believe that the maintenance release of SU8 was from Trimble and has a very different licensing agreement as does the original release from Google. I myself decided not to go with Trimble's update.

Hi Julia Christina Eneroth has a bunch of great plugins. One of them is "Eneroth Camera Memory" with which you can copy a scene´s camera settings and paste these on an other scene. This procedure works within a file itself but olso between different files. There are no icons, the plugin´s two options are added into the Camera´s menu. Since I work with SkUp 2013 I do not know if it works with later SU versions so just try it out. Look under Window>Preferences>Files. There you can set the locations for the things which can have their locations set by the user.

At one point I was working on a plugin to import a vector PDF directly into SketchUp as geometry, not an image. There were some unsurmountable technical issues (e.g. PDF has line with width, fill pattern, corner joins, and end caps which all have no equivalent in SketchUp). Also the sample PDFs people had at the time were sloppy, with lots of carelessly placed line segments that didn't match up. I don't need this for my own use, and there was no expression of interest on the forum, so I moved on to other things. If you would like, send me your file and I'll see what the plugin makes of it.
