I have a finished model and I want to start putting dimensions to the different parts. To do this I would like to use scenes and layers. Here's how I have it setup:

I have two scenes Main and Bridge with automation deselected. I have two layers Main and Bridge. I made two copies of the model from Layer 0 and assigned one copy to Layer/Main and one to Layer/Bridge. From here I would break down the model copies to the parts I want to focus on.

I then went to Scene/Main and selected only Layer/Main to be visible and updated. I went to Scene/Bridge and selected only layer/Bridge be visible and updated.

My issue is when I go back to Scene/Main it is fine but when I go to Scene/Bridge Layer/Bridge becomes visible but Layer/Main is also still visible. I can reset my visible layers again and update but the changes won't hold.

All check boxes in the Save Scene dialog are selected.

Any thoughts? Is there a better way?

Do you have groups and components? You might check to see what layers your individual model elements are in (including elements within groups and components). You may have inadvertently moved them to, or modeled them in, the wrong layer.

        My avatar is an anachronism.

Thanks for the note Daniel! Your suggestion was not exactly my issue but it was close enough that I was able to figure it out.

          Very much appreciate the help!

You should describe your solution for others who will come across this question in the future...

Yup, Im having this problem, and best I can figure, my Groups and Components are good, its just going back to Main layer, seems to reset visible layers in all other scenes automatically, I would love to hear what the solution was.
              Thanks
