My 'Slicer' is designed to do just that - it lays them out 'flat' but you do need to set up the printing to scale part yourself... http://rhin.crai.archi.fr/rubylibrarydepot/plugin_details.php?id=395

So aligning with the axis is like rotating on the axis. Sweet, thanks. Ya went through 21 zip cuts when it was all said and done haha. Had them laying around from previous jobs I have done or worked at. Now I have a new oxygen bottle, Im hoping it will be cheaper.

Well, as it turns out, a friend managed to put together a Sketchup file that can export an animation of a model spinning in 36 frames. Using styles I've been able to mimic render quality. It's not perfect, but good enough for my purposes. Thanks for your help!

What version of blender are you using? I find that with the new 2.5 alpha builds, the exporter doesn't work properly yet. If you go back and try the same thing in 2.49 stable build, the .3ds export to sketchup works just fine. [image: NGTq_2010-10-10_1127.jpg] [image: Ln9W_2010-10-10_1128.jpg]

Check View > Face Style has Shaded with Textures checked. I'm guessing that you have Monochrome checked instead.

Cleaning up your example only took a few seconds. I see what you're getting at though as far as drawing in the draft. Curvilot might be a solution for you. I think Offset and a couple of guidelines will be helpful, too. SUCalkLeftTopAndBottomShankDrafted.skp

Thanks for everyone's help, I did it the "hard" way with the awesome curviloft plug-in, and draping the CAD plan on to it. here is an image of the model base which(with the road the ramp and the parking) has small but multiple important curvatures. now theres something to build on.. Here's my guess at last. If you look at the plan below the roof model, I started using the rear slope (7:12) to complete the front high roof as indicated in previous posts. However I thought this looked worse so I changed it in the model to be 12:12 all sides of the front high roof. I also dropped the garage roof eave in the model, as I think this makes the symmetrical part work better. However that requires that you push the door wall of the garage out a little (no big deal), so the resulting roof works with the master bedroom roof. I left the "terrace" uncovered. I think that is a better design and creates the roof ridge of the central 7:12 in accordance with the elevation (not so high). Besides the plan has a dotted line at the "porch" indicating it is covered perhaps and the "terrace" is not. I scaled off the graphic and I think my roof is scaled different than yours, but the concept is there. The top of the high front roof is not to be flat really. You'd have a low slope in four directions, but you'd not see it really. Or a skylight with a dramatic shaft in the great room. OK-- so I see in yours the high pitch is only on two sides, that makes the ridge for the front element work. That looks pretty good. I wonder though if you can make the lower roof each side of that have more ridge and be symmetrical, plan allowing, to create a better visual support for the high roof. Good luck.
