I first simplified the contours a bit to be able to drape at all (even from contours seemed to stall). Then closed the open ends of the parking lot and draped the road which indeed did not seem to fully drape so turned on hidden geometry to try to identify the problem. I painted the facets one by one until found out that in one of the handicapped parking lots) in the corner) there was some problem. Redrawing the edge from the corner point seemed to solve the issue. Hi Bonie, SketchUp 8 has introduced solid tools which will calculate not only the area (as before with faces) but also the volume of "solids" now. I am not sure how these solids are translated when exported (SU Pro can export into CAD formats) but I guess they retain their solidness and can be used further to calculate these volumes there.

Odd, I've not seen that. I did finally figure out that the spline is selectable. You haveto select a certain end of it. Just the endpoiint it selectable. Maybe there is a relationship there with the endpoint business. I wonder what weird little quirks there are under the Hood of SU that are sort of forgotten or intenionally left out, but still there in code. There also used to be an "Easter Egg". It is no longer accessible, but apparently the code is still in the software.

For something like that I would prefer to draw the outlines on a flat plane directly above the terrain, then drape the outlines onto the terrain. It works very nicely normally.
