RE: Mapped Network Location not Visible
@mitcorb
Thanks for that.Additional info: over at the Google help forums it was suggested that the firewall may be preventing Sketchup from accessing the server. But that does not seem to be the problem, either.
Any more ideas, anyone?

RE: Mapped Network Location not Visible
@mitcorb:
The save-locally-and-then-send-on works for the sketchup model files, even though - as you rightly say - it is not very elegant. The problem is with the component libraries that are supposed to be set up and maintained centrally on the ftp server. I need to be able to access those from inside sketchup.To clarify, it may help to know that I am not the only designer. Others have to use the standardised components library from their home offices, too. To download the library to their respective local machines, is not an option (policy issues here).
Thanks for your comments, however, and keep them coming

Mapped Network Location not Visible
Hi all,
this is my first post, so I thought I'd put it in the Noob section, even though its a bit of a messy system-y affair.
I'm using Windows 7 and Sketchup 7.1 pro. I work from home and have to access an ftp location to retrieve and send work. I have mapped the ftp location from W7 and it nicely appears in the file explorer and in applications.
Sketchup is not liking this, however. I can use the "load file" dialogue and see the ftp location (and load files). But there are several things I cannot do, such as save a file to that location. Another issue is in the "Components" window, when I choose the "open or create local collection...". The window which allows me to select the location of that collection appears, but it doesn't show the ftp location.
Locations on my LAN (SMB shares) are accessible, btw.
What strikes me is that other applications (I tested this with the OpenOffice word processor) do see the ftp location for read and write operations.
Grateful for any hints, suggestions and comments.
