@gaieus said: Let's not talk about "images" (they are 2D raster file formats like jpg or png) but "models" that you can download from the warehouse. See the screenshot - whatever you download from the warehouse into your "In model" (temporary) library, you can simply drag and drop into the secondary window > libraries (that is on your Hard Drive) Thanks for your help Csaba!

All the styles you have "tried" so far have been probably accumulating in your file (also this is why it may be "bloated"). Especially sketchy styles tend to be big in file size as they can contain considerable size raster images. Try to purge your file under Widow > Model info > Statistics.

Yes, you can place images on top of each other in LayOut but the ultimate (read easiest and most straightforward) solution here is indeed Jim's plugin that TIG suggested.

This could be done in flash actually. Render your scene and then add a video overlay (or how they call it there). Look at this example - although it is an interactive panorama, obviously it could be done with a still even easier (not as if I personally could do it of course): http://flashpanoramas.com/blog/2007/05/23/add-some-life-to-panoramas/ Or... this one: http://www.azlan.com/vt/index.htm

Hi Jindrich, Maybe (maybe) you are in monochrome or "simply" shaded mode. Try to change your face style settings to "Shaded with texture" under View > Face style

Hi folks. Another possibility is to search for a picture of books on a book shelf and then to paste in on a surface slightly recessed in the front of the actual shelves of the model. If no suitable picture is available and you have a digital camera, why not take a picture of an actual array of books and paste that. Not only will it look pretty, it may also save on file size. Just ideas.

Hi jiggy, This is your first post Please welcome You can find a mini tut by takeshh about CopyAlongAPath on this [pushpullbar]²thread . And you will find some useful links inside this SCF forums.. for exemple: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=180&t=8631&p=51624 http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=180&t=4871&p=31290 http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=9659&p=60933 but: In My Opinion! Copy Along A Path scripted by the famous Rick Wilson (also the author of the extremely necessary Weld.rb) haven't been developed for long and is now a bit outdated (excuse me dear Rick ). We now have in order to copy components along a path, a new brilliant plugin Component Stringer cooked by an other famous author: Chris Fullmer !! And you can also take a look on an alternative interesting solution here on: Copy Array Along Path tool...have a look. simon

Hi all, A big THANK-YOU for all your help - I have now sorted and have spent the last hour or so sorting out my model and it is now a much more manageable 1.1mb. I have taken on board everything taht has been said and I have learnt lots - future models will be a doddle now! Maybe! Thanks again Gaieus, I totally understand what you're saying, it makes perfect sense now, I will remember for the future, sorry for misconstruing what you suggested. Thank you everyone. All the best,

Unfortnately the link got mangled. Ah yes, I'm a bit of a history geek and much prefer the old monikers to be honest; Caer Ebrauc, Eboracum, Jorvik, Yorke etc!

Skindigo is the Indigo renderer, with a SketchUp plugin written by Whaat (Dale Martens) who is a regular on this forum. There are many who love it. Indigo is currently in the process of becoming a non-free renderer. I think they said the old version will always be free, but the new version is not cheap 595 euros starting February 1st.

@honoluludesktop said: Sorry for the beginners question, but can someone tell me how the first vertex in a face is determined? Is it the point of insertion? Guess the direction of the face is then related to the sequence in the array? 1) Front or back visible when drawing a rectangle is determined by the direction the diagonal is going. Not by first and second click. 2)It also depends in which axes plane you are drawing. Just 1) and 2) determine front and back for new rectangles not touching other rectangles. Otherwise they tend to inherite their orientations. (Circles and polygons follow different rules) See attached file Face_orient.skp with the diagram. Try it to see what happens when. http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=509c2a6868ab3855b2dd3120ca5e0662

that's it. I know it, when I got close to finishing I was messing with resizing the cabinet door to fit the opening from the original drawing, I bet i screwed something up with that. I'm sure that's it. I was so careful to check and recheck my dimensions as I was drawing. everything is off, but the panels still fit the dado and that would make sense it I scaled the model by accident. I will sleep so much better tonight.
