    • Styles are killing me!

      Hello

Spent a while making a model and now coming to trying to get the output I want from the models. Been going a little crazy sifting through styles trying to achieve what I want. Essentially after a simple b&w drawing with shadows as per the attached example, however, perhaps obviously given the title of the programme, all the styles are really sketchy and loose. Any ideas?

I tried all the styles, none are really suitable, tried exporting as a .dwg and importing but then the model didn't seem to translate well into Rhino which I use (plus the file is too bloated I think but that's a whole other question for later)? Recommendations gratefully received before I go nuts!

Using SketchupPro 7. Tried the Style Builder, opening default style as basis to work from but said the style is not a sketchy edge style and so could not be loaded, but I don't want a sketchy edge style!?!

    • Invisible sketchup model when VRAY rendering

      Hi

Having some issues trying to render a sketchup model using VRAY. All that appears in the render is the landscape surface I made using contours. The rest of the model is invisible, I've tried applying VRAY material to groups and all the lines/surfaces within the group (not sure if I need to do the latter, is applying materials to groups alone enough?) but still to no avail?

    • Importing 3ds Max model smooth surfaces and subtract method?

      Hi

I've been trying to import a Max model into sketchup. I can import the model but the model is composed of smooth surfaces, is there a way I can alter (by resaving the Max file or by a method once the file is opened in Sketchup) the model so I end up with a typical default Sketchup style model? I want to further edit the model in sketchup and the issue is causing problems as I have to retrace elements before editing them? Then some parts have the smooth surfaces and others the default Sketchup modeling style?

Second question, does sketchup have a process like some other CAD programs (Rhino for example) where a shape overlapping/intersecting another can be used to subtract from the other? I have made a contoured landscape using the Sandbox> from contours and now I want to carve an embankment through the landscape model.

      Thanks all!
